DenmanGentle Paddle Hairbrush for Comfortable Detangling, Blowdrying and Styling

I watched a YouTube video by CurlMaven and she recommended this brush. Up to that point I was using a special wide tooth comb that had tines that crossed. I will never go back to my comb again. Even more, I won’t ever use another brush again. This brush is awesome! It is soft and doesn’t break my hair. It is also amazing at detangling my daughter’s hair, which is really saying something. I only brush our hair when it’s wet since we have curly hair, so I can say this brush is perfect for wet hair, but it’s also supposed to be good for dry hair too. And it’s supposed to be good for all hair types. It’s truly a great all around brush. To understand what I mean, you have to just try this brush!

I purchased this brush oh, eight or more years ago at a specialty store. I have used it exclusively since then, and stopped by the store a few times looking for the same brush, so that I could have one at home and one for travel. It finally occurred to me that I might look on Amazon, so when I found "my" brush, I immediately ordered two of them. The brushes I received seem to be of the same great quality as my old favorite.This is a large paddle brush, great for thick or curly hair. My hair is very thick and long, and this brush always smooths it out nicely. I love how the brush feels on my hair and scalp. It can be used to give volume to hair when blow-drying, too, although I don't do that.The brush lasts forever -- my original brush is still in use, and has not lost any bristles or had any pieces come apart. It always cleans up nicely, too.What makes the brush great is that the ends of the bristles are nicely rounded, and that rounding seems to be an integral part of the bristles. On other brushes, the little round ends of the bristles seemed to have been stuck on in a separate step. The little end blobs fall off, or separate from the bristle, and either catch my hair and tear it, or leave a sharp bristle end, or both. I've thrown away many brushes because of this failure. So glad I found one that is made right!

Excellent brush, highly recommend

I looked in my drawer and thought that I should never ever for the rest of my life have to buy a brush, as I have round brushes, paddle brushes, vent brushes all in multiple sizes. Then I read a review on BuzzFeed about this brush, and despite my better judgment, I bought it. I could not be more pleased because this brush has helped me to do something that no other brush was able to do; I am now able to blow dry my bangs straight using this brush when my hair is damp. There is something about the way that the brush grabs the hair that enables you to pull your bangs to the right and then to the left leaving them straighter than I have been able to get them with any other brush. I then follow up with a round brush just for final smoothing, but this brush has really made the job a lot easier. (In fact, when my bangs are shorter right after my hair is cut, I can skip the round brush step all together. I use the round brush when their longer simply because my hair is wavy and if I don't completely smooth out the ends, it will curl back up on me.)I also use this to brush out the rest of my hair when I am doing a rough dry. Bending over and drying the underneath part is so much easier with this brush. It is very gentle, and I never find it snags my hair. (My hair is thin, but I have a lot of it.) If I want to dry the rest of my hair, I can stand up and use this brush if I choose not to use a round brush. I paid ~$12 for this brush and it is worth every penny!

Thin, fine hair, here. I bleach/ color it just to give it texture. I knew bristle brushes weren't for me and gave had cheap drugstore brushes or wet brushes for years but my stylist recommended Denman. I was low key shocked at how "peaceful" the experience was. Nothing sounded like it was ripping. It got through my towel dried hair pretty easily. And I decided to blow dry the rest of the way and test it for frizz control. I didn't even have to use any product. It definitely helped.

It's a good brush. It stands out compared to the options I saw at the store (such as the kitsch and wetbrush.) Most of those had far more rigid cushions, but this brush as an awesome flexible, soft cushion. The softer the cushion, the better it feels on the head in my experience. I also liked that the bristles don't have a huge ball-end, and they're very sturdy, while other brushes have flimsier bristles. The bristle design is less prone to catching on hair, but I wouldn't use this as a wet detangling brush bc they are so firm.The disappointing thing is the quality of the brush body at this price. Feels like very cheap plastic and the shape of the handle isn't pleasant to hold. People say this might be a fake, but I really didn't see anything that might indicate that it's a knock-off. I've read that Denman's quality has been going downhill, at least in the US. I got the brush in matte black, so maybe this particular color plastic feels extra crappy. I wish Denman put more effort into the material & design of the handle/body so that it was ergonomic.
