(Updated) Finally gave up on it... at least for daily work.
UPDATE 2016-09-03:After using two different mice, Amazon Basics and the one that comes in the Logitech MK120 combo (couldn't find the old generic mouse I had before), I have to say that the problem with this mouse is: its size (but not there is more). This mouse is too small for my hands, just as the Amazon Basics is too small for me, it was even worse than this one (I temporarily altered the Amazon Basics mouse with plasticine and adapted it to my hand size: it made a huge difference, not something I can recommend as permanent because it is too heavy, but got me an idea of the mouse size I would use). This mouse will likely work great for someone with relatively small hands (I can comfortably cover an octave on a piano, so, my hands are *not* small). Now, there is more... If you are feeling discomfort using this or any other mouse, re-evaluate your technique, your work space, and specially you most likely need to train your hands a lot more (preferably under professional supervision) and stretch (similar to rock climbers). Nowadays I made several changes: started training my hands, doing stretches, I am now using a tablet instead of a mouse for day-to-day work, and I also alternate between sit and standing position while working. For playing, the tablet is not usually good, so, I went ahead and fixed this mouse (I told you it can be fixed), so, opened it, thoroughly cleaned it (compressed air, electrical contact cleaner, ...), and now use it for my sporadic gaming needs (I just love the sensor, how it responds)... it still feels too small, but as I am not using it all day long, and my hands are a lot stronger now: it is not causing me pain. So, updating rating from 2 to 4 stars for now, it could go back down to 3 or 2 if it starts failing again.--------- Original review follows ---------Beautiful mouse, I really liked it... the color, the shape, the feel of the material to touch, the light, the fact that I could control my volume using the mouse wheel. *Really* nice package. The sensor, is quite precise.I ditched my old generic mouse and started using it right away. Now, let me tell you something: I do very light gaming, and this mouse was mostly used as an *office* mouse, for work (I would game with it, but about 3 hours per month or so! and nothing too demanding, some StarCraft II, some Mass Effect, some Portal, no crazy clicking with it). After a few weeks I started to feel some discomfort in my hand... I pretty much ignored it, because, well, I thought that *maybe* it was that I was used to the old mouse, that I had to get accustomed to the new one... after all, this was supposed to be ergonomic. The discomfort was reduced, or I just got distracted with all the work, or whatever...Now, in 2015 (I got the mouse in July 2014), this discomfort grew... and grew... slowly, yes, but after August it became clear that I could no longer ignore it. I started searching the web for people having the same problems... I found a lot of people with similar issues. I read about people using the mouse differently, I was using "palm grip", read about using fingertip grip.. ok, I changed how I used the mouse. You see... I really liked the mouse, I was refusing to give up on it.Finally, the right click problem hit... it would often double-click when I clicked... yes, this can be fixed, except that... I no longer want to fix it, see...My hand was still hurting after changing the grip! so... I changed to my *other* hand (after realizing how often I would move my hand around the keyboard and to the mouse and back)... my left hand was less used (and I am ambidextrous) you know what, it works better on the left hand, but, in time... the discomfort also started on my left hand.I have *no idea* what's wrong with this mouse, but it is clearly not ergonomic, not comfortable, and not durable... just really good looking, and with nice features.I consider my money was wasted on this one. Now, I switched to a generic mouse... ugly, but will likely last longer than this one... It is too soon to tell if it is more comfortable (but my previous generic mouse was more comfortable).

I can no longer blame my mouse.
I took a gamble on this mouse when I bought it. I've never used Roccat products before, nor had any of my friends. I 'tried' the mouse at a Fry's electronics, and by 'try' I mean I attempted to put my hand on it through its plastic packaging, in its box. My current mouse was dying (Logitech, known for the connection between cord and mouse becoming loose) and I was desperate to not be a n00b when my mouse randomly disconnected mid team-fight. So I went to the Twitterverse, said Hashtag Yolo, and ordered a Kone Pure Military Edition Gaming Mouse (military edition was a bit cheaper at the time).A few days later, my new mouse shows up, I plug it in, fall in love with it, and am no longer a n00b who blames my mouse for misclicks. The braided cord moves nicely, the scroll wheel has a nice tactile response, and all four of the buttons click well. The glowing logo on the mouse is a nice aesthetic touch, but I really didn't care about how is looked. I just wanted a basic mouse that fit my hand well. And fit my hand well, it does. I have a fairly large hand, with fairly skinny fingers (was a piano player growing up, go figure). I use a mostly palm grip, so I needed a fairly large/long mouse. This seemed to be a great fit when I ordered it, and I was right. My one problem with it is that they put a tag/label around the cord, right where it goes into the mouse. When you remove this tag, it leaves a little glue residue on the cord. After nine months of rubbing that glue to try to get it off, dust still sticks to it and makes the cord look super dirty- in just that one spot. I can rub the dust off, but it will always come back. With all being said, this is a great mouse.Would recommend for PC gamers who have decently large hands, use a palm grip, and don't need no stinkin' macro buttons.Would also recommend for non-PC gamers who want a responsive, quick mouse, at an affordable price.

the mouse itself feels great, the software that comes with it is cute
For a gaming mouse, it sure hasn't held up too well with my frequent gaming. it weighs slighty more than my little wireless laptop's usb mouse and so its pretty light.it features a nice "fabric" coated cord and usb dongle that helps distinguish it from any other cord. you will never mistake it for another device. it feels like a shoelace.the mouse itself feels great, the software that comes with it is cute, and the function keys are awesome and totally bindable. it feels perfect for my hand which is on the smaller side.my only complaint i guess is that it doesn't handle frequent constant use. i've owned it for less than a year and the black rubber/plastic coat on top of the mouse has begun to peel off all around the bottom of the mouse, where my palm and wrist touch the mouse. a huge chunk on the edge of the right button also eventually fell off. underneath is more black plastic but it is hard and gives off a bright reflection in the light.its has also lost its bright blue color pretty early on. now its entire sides (both sides) are a dull blue-ish grey from less than a year's use. i realize this is from my hands sweating and making the colors run but i didn't think it would be this bad so quickly. i wash my hands frequently and do not eat while i use the mice and it has an unremovable coat of dirt and filth that is clearly only formed on the areas where my thumb and fingers rest while holding it.shoulda went for the black version so this wouldn't be so visible.

ROCCAT Kone Pure -Perfect mouse for all day use and gaming!
Build Quality 5/5The ROCCAT Kone Pure is similar to a standard normal sized mouse but with an enhanced build quality and 4 extra mouse buttons for optimal economical versatility, making it perfect for a user who wants more functionality and comfort out of their mouse. The Kone Pure's surface is really silky smooth to the hand and favours a fingertip clicking approach. The mouse wheel feels really good and prestigious!Software Quality 3/5While the software on the whole is good, it takes a good 10 seconds or more to apply mouse settings and depending on what you are doing on your computer, sometimes the applied settings do not work correctly. This software takes 3220 K of RAM which is reasonable for a mouse of this calibre. Conclusion 4.5/5While the DPI buttons (basically DPI changes the mouse sensitivity) may be useful to some, I think most would prefer to have an ideal mouse sensitivity (DPI) for each different application or game. These DPI buttons can be reassigned to another function, including macro's which you can program in the software. (The macro builder is fast and works as it should). The Easy-Shift[+] function basically gives you more buttons on your mouse by assigning one of the 2 side mouse buttons to shift all other mouse buttons. In my opinion, a nifty and very useful tool for people who want more functionality but it's not necessary. The ROCCAT Kone Pure Colour Gaming Mouse in Hellfire Red is a very nice colour for this mouse! The Polar Blue version also looks nice!If you found this review helpful, please comment and click on Yes! :) ROCCAT Kone Pure Colour Gaming Mouse in Hellfire RedPolar Blue

Great to hold, great to play with.
I've mostly used Logitech mice (MX518) so this was a really easy change to transition to. I have purchased many ambidextrous mice before this, and I just can't make the switch to those, always feels wrong. Really like the slightly edgy feel of this mouse, the rubbery texture is also very nice to rest your hand on, although I'm sure it will eventually rub off, but then again even Logitech mice disintegrate from palm sweat over a year or two :D The mouse wheel feels great, buttons are within reach, but I have fairly long fingers. No other really amazing features, just a solid no frills gaming mouse with the performance and specs you'd expect.Get this if you want to play games and not be bothered by using your mouse (as long as you like logitech style mice, with something to actually grip) get a Oroborous or R.A.T if you want a desk ornament and more features and options to just completely pull you out of the game and into the included "performance" software. One problem for me is the mouse cord, it's braided... such a waste. I expect they want to attract more anal buyers, who think that having nylon wrapped around a mouse cord is "quality" but at least it's not as bad as some Steelseries mice. It's thin and light enough to not get in the way but it still makes the cord more rigid then it needs to be, so not going to dock the score for it as it's mostly a non issue, might drive some people mad though.

Feels amazing. So much better than the Logitech G402 I ...
Superb mouse. Feels amazing. So much better than the Logitech G402 I bought from Amazon and returned. Build quality is through the roof and the buttons feel tremendous. Loses a star because I have yet to find a mouse that has the buttons in the perfect place for my hand, but this one is pretty close. I use a fingertip grip on this mouse and the furthest thumb button is 'just' within reach (unlike the deathadder). I mapped the DPI buttons at the scroll wheel to something else as I don't need to change DPI on the fly. The nearest DPI button is a bit fiddly to get to but the one nearest the scroll wheel is easy to press. The mouse is so light and comfortable to hold. The illuminated logo looks the business and the built in software is great though fussy so make sure you add an exception to the Roccat directory in Windows Defender and you will find the software much snappier to save settings. Very happy, the best mouse I have tried and almost my perfect mouse.

Too small for my hand but might work for others
I had been using a Razer Deathadder for a number of years and it stopped working so I decided to give the Roccat Kone Pure a go after hearing favourable reviews. I play with a claw grip and do not have large hands so I thought that this would not be too small for me but when I got it I just found it to be too 'compact' for my hand. I did persevere for a number of days but in the end decided to return the mouse as it wasn't for me.The build quality and functionality of the mouse seems good so if you have smaller hands then this might be for you.Hope this helps :D

Skipping, non 1:1 movement and a real shame.
Mouse feel/shape is excellent. Weight is good and I find that my semi-claw grip is much more relaxed on this mouse than others I have owned. It's aided me in being a little more precise in my flick aiming and smoother in my tracking aim. However I have had problems with skipping and non 1:1 movement. Bought a brand new perfectly black mouse pad to see if this alleviated the problems. No dice. Can't recommend something that can't do the basics consistently, no matter how nice it is otherwise.Back to the drawing board to find that perfect mouse.
