Initially I was pretty apprehensive.My mom had purchased one of these on a whim and I thought for sure I would hate it compared to my normal chainsaw.Although it is NOT intended to be used as a full sized saw, it ABSOLUTELY has its place in a tool shed. I have a 50 foot row of Arborvitae trees that need a haircut every couple of years. I just finished cutting 2 1/2 to 3 feet off of them, and that includes some thick base trunk. Second go-round with the gator (the first was 2 years ago) and I can’t imagine doing this job without it. A regular chainsaw would work, but would soon tire me out at 70 years old. By using both arms by design, the efffort is distributed. If it broke today I’d buy it again.

Bought this for my husband for Christmas. He loves it. Works like a dream!

Have used this for some time now. It works well for pruning larger brush and cutting down small trees. Lets you get right on the ground without damaging the chain as long as you use some care. Important to keep proper chain tension to avoid throwing it. If it does happen, pay attention to the orientation of the drive gear. If you put it back on backwards, it will throw the chain very easily.

I was very skeptical of the reviews, but I decided to try the B&D Alligator Loper out. I'm impressed. The claims in the reviews are true. My wife and I are clearing bamboo.I was cutting the bamboo with a Stihl chainsaw and it worked ok although noisy and tiresome with all the refuels and sharpenings. This tool is 2x faster and quiet.
