I finally can solder! It turns out I never had the tip of my iron tinned correctly. I had tried various irons over the years and could never solder a decent joint. I didn't realize the importance of a perfectly clean, perfectly tinned iron. After some research I decided to try this tip tinning compound. Works like a charm! Now that my iron is tinned, I have been able to solder wires without burning the insulation off. To keep the iron clean, I just wipe it on a wet sponge during and after use and it is ready for next time! So glad I finally tried this!!!

Useful product but pictures make the unit look much bigger!! Container is only about 1.5 “ in diameter…

This product works! Have this ceramic tip used on a Velleman Soldering station. The ceramic/copper tip has a tinning process done to it. If you remove the factory tinning on the tip when cleaning by using 600 grit sandpaper & a wet sponge. Then wonder why the soldering tip is not working. It's because you've lost the tin coating. This Tip Tinner works great to retin the tip. Once the tinning is removed the tip will not transfer the heat to the point of solder. But if you use this product you can maintain the tip.
