A value for money tablet case, that looks good, really pleased

This is a wonderful tablet cover (Samsung Tab A 8"), replacing a 5-yr old well worn cover of the same. It fits snugly and keeps the tablet protected. Highly recommend.

I bought a Fintie case in 2016 for my Galaxy Tab 4 and was so pleased with it that when I got my new Galaxy Tab A I immediately looked for a case from the same company. It does appear to be almost exactly the same. There are gaps around the corners and initially I thought it was a pretty bad fit but then realised that it's probably a design improvement for shock absorption so I'm happy about that. It took a little pressure to insert it with a satisfying click so it feels secure and protected.But where the drop in quality seems to have crept in is on the fordable cover. The inside of the old cover has a nice soft felt finish but the new one has a rough, paper feel to it, and ever so slightly thinner. It doesn't feel as good at all. I have both tablets sitting in the portrait stand position (with the cover in a triangle fold) and when I move them on the table the old one has the "swish" of a soft finish while the new one slides with a "scratchy paper" like sound.I also noticed a very rough finish to the area where the magnets are embedded in the plastic frame to hold the cover closed. On the old tablet, the finish is as smooth as anywhere else on the case and the two magnets sit flush with the surface of the plastic. On the new case the metal of one of the magnets looks like it still has the teeth marks from whatever cut it and the plastic has sharp jagged bits sticking up that you can feel when running your thumb over it, like the tool they used to cut the holes left bits of plastic still attached.It'll still do the same job I guess, and I don't use tablets enough for it to really annoy me. Honestly, I'd probably be quite happy with the case for the price if I didn't already have one to compare it with. But it's a disappointing drop in quality from a well machined case and a nice soft finish with a premium feel to a poorly machined case and the cheap feel of a cardboard cover.

Having previously purchased a Fintie case (as a present) for a Kindle I was aware these cases can withstand some careless treatment. They're slim and neat enough to allow the device to be slipped into a pocket, briefcase or handbag. The case purchased for a Galaxy Tab A is no different - same versatile and practical design. Very much worth purchasing.
