I bought this for a rail mount for the Taylor Made Stainless Steel Boat Flag Pole Kit 18 inch. I had tried the Taylor Made Boat Flag Pole Socket Rail mount to fit 1" rails, and it was too small. So I purchased this rail mount for up to 1"- 1 1/4" rails, and it was too big. Had to put a wrap of duct tape to be a proper fit. Since then, have had no troubles. Mount has not budged, despite going 40 mph. Well made. Thumb screw tightens the flag pole easily.

Purchased these to use on my Hewescraft ocean boat... they are all over the waters here in Alaska so I wanted some way to make mine different. So adding a USA flag and Alaska state flag makes mine stand out.These mounts are the bomb! Very solid, very stable, and super easy to install - just make sure you order for the correct railing diameter. The included rubber pads are a nice touch - add them to the rail before you install these mounts on them and there is virtually no chance of the mount rolling to either side on the rail. The allen screws are enough to hold it very tightly, yet there is also a smaller set screw to tighten, which is an added bonus. I think that trailering your boat with these is nothing to worry about, even with the flag out and displayed. There is virtually no chance of slippage or rolling side to side even at highway speeds.The only drawback I can think of it the 1" flagpole hole. It requires the purchase of the stainless steel flagpoles, which are 1", but also very expensive. I bought the aluminum poles, which are only 3/4" in size, but I took the idea of the rubber pad and used it with these. I found a rubber 1/8" gasket pad, and cut a strip the width of the hole for the pole. With the 3/4" pole, and a 1/8" pad wrapped all around the pole, it was now 1" and works fine. The pole tightening screw holds the pole without a problem! But, if I ever do encounter a problem, I'll have to get the full stainless pole for 3x the cost.If you want to proudly display a flag, be it the US flag, state flag or a regional club flag,these are what you want.

This rail mount assembly was easy and quick to install on the push pit of our sailboat. It is proudly holding the flag and staff.

Like most Taylor Made metal parts, this is solid well built and polished to a high standard. It installs easily and is easy to position as desired. Fits perfectly on a 1 inch stainless tube, either thin or thick wall (i tried both).However it has one significant design flaw, if you look at the barrel section where the flag pole goes, you will see it is not round but a very obvious oval that is perpendicular to the thumb screw. For my usage, i have a high end stainless flag pole (solid and heavy) when tightened down in the holder, it will rock from side to side with the waves/surge, constantly. It is not a severe rocking, but enough to be annoying, as you can both see the pole moving, and hear the click every time it contacts each side of the barrel. Perhaps with a wooden pole the thumb screw will hold it better, but it would still seem to me that it will tend to rock in the direction of the elongated oval.I returned mine for a refund, and will look for another option. Shame, because it looked good.

I was looking for a sturdy flag pole mount that can be attached to a standard chain link fence railing. The 1-1/8 - 1-1/4 mount works nicely by simply replacing the stock cap screws with two M6-1.00 x 25 Socket Head Cap Screws. You can pick up a two pack made by Hillman at any of the big box home improvement stores for a couple dollars or less or you can buy a ten pack from Amazon (https://www.amazon.com/50-M6-1-0-25mm-Stainless-MonsterBolts/dp/B078KK4GRQ/ref=sr_1_4?s=hi&ie=UTF8&qid=1533508481&sr=1-4&keywords=M6-1.00%2Bx%2B25mm%2BMetric%2BStainless%2BSteel%2BSocket%2BCap%2BScrew&th=1) for around five dollars.This mount holds a standard flag pole up to an inch and has a thumb screw knob to secure the pole. It is a little pricey but well worth the price because it is stainless steel, is very strong, and will easily last a lifetime.
