Firefly FF338 Semi Hollowbody Guitar (Ice Tea).
Hello Everyone.First of all, let’s get this out of the way. When someone purchases a guitar (whether it’s used, refurbished, displayed model, with minor imperfection, or a new one) at some point you’re going to set the action, replace/modify the knobs/switches/bridge/strings/pickups/toners/fret/fret board/neck/etc. to your preference. Same goes for the cable and picks it comes with. It’s no difference when you buy your vehicle. Sooner or later you’re going to change/add/replace/modify items on your vehicle to your liking. And that’s fine. With that said, please don’t count these components as a negative criticism towards these guitars.Let’s just focus on the guitar itself. With minor tuning and neck adjustments, these guitars are ready to play right out of the box. As you know, minor tuning and neck adjustments are common with any guitar you purchase. The finish, quality, and construction of these guitars are awesome. The headstock is eye-catching. The neck is straight. The frets don’t have dents/divots and are smooth (no sharp edges). The fret board is fine. The body is beautiful. The joints/seems are connected to satisfactory. The hardware (pickup selector or switch/output or input jack/volume & tone knobs or controls/bridge/pickups/pick guard/tuners/electronics/screws/nuts/strap buttons/fret or inlay markers/fret nut) are nice, functional, and tight. There may be some small blemishes or cloudy finishes here and there, fret board might have some kind of dye on it, but nothing really significant that would cause you NOT to play the guitar immediately. The added guitar cable and guitar picks are cool.I’ve made NO modifications or changed any components on this guitar and had no major issue with feedback noise, guitar getting out of tune from hours of play, components getting loose or not working, breaking strings, electrical issues, etc. Again, everyone has their option on what they consider feedback, guitar out of tune, components getting loose or not working, breaking strings, electrical issues, etc. And that’s okay. It also varies on the equipment (amps/stacks/pedals/cables/etc.) you use and how you play these guitars. In conclusion, these guitars are attractive, feel great, look fabulous, sound terrific, entice you to play them and definitely fun to play.I’m sold and I’m a HUGE fan of the Firefly Guitars! I wished I could have purchased the earlier models when they first came out. If I had the money, I would buy all the Firefly FF338 and FFTH models. For only $139.00 and with no shipping fees, these guitars are an excellent investment! I’ll say it again. Not only are these guitars gorgeous, they’re a pleasure to play.I hope Firefly will continue to produce new models or have older models available because I’m excited in purchasing them in the future.Thank you Firefly Guitar company/staff for producing this magnificent product!

Pretty good for what you pay for it
Like the old saying says you get what you pay for. For the price it’s a decent guitar. Is it perfect? No. I will say that the wooden parts of this guitar are pretty good and the pots are the small ones but they work without noise. The hardware is what is lacking in quality. The problem I’ve had and others have as well is the bridge buzzes and the tuners are not good either. Very hard to tune when you turn and turn and turn and then the tuner jumps too far the other way. The pickups are very microphonic you can talk right into them and be heard through the amp. So I am replacing the bridge, tuners and pickups on mine. As well as doing a thorough set up, adjusting the truss rod and nut, polishing and leveling the frets and intonation. Non of which were terrible but just needed some TLC. To make this a really good guitar count on spending another $90 to $100 on it if you do the work yourself.

A lot of bang for the buck
I purchased one of these Firefly FF338'S a few months back after going back and forth the last few times they were for sale and missed getting one. I am a beginner guitar player and don't want to spend big money on a guitar right now, maybe later, but I don't think I will even then. I'm no guitar expert or connoisseur but I can tell when something is not made well. I am impressed by the quality of this guitar for the price point. The fit and finish is beautiful, no flaws that I can see. I know the quality of the electronics is not top of the line, nor did I expect it to be, but it's better than I thought it would be. Same for the tuners, a little bit of slop in them, but they work. The fret work on mine is smoooooth, no sharp edges, matter of fact it's better than the fret work on my Yamaha Pacifica 112J. One thing I will say is mine did NOT come with D'Addario strings, I had a setup done on mine and strings were replaced anyway. If you're looking for a semi-hollow body on a budget i don't think you will be disappointed with one of these Firefly FF338's.

A great Value but a few things to note!!!
Fretwork is amazing probably what hit me the hardest. Intonation is right on out of the box. Finish is awesome but will scratch easily with a belt buckle. As it only took me seconds to scratch mine. But whatever, playing exclusively in sweatpants was never an option anyhow. The bridge is cheap and feels sharp to the hand on palm mutes. The frets at the bottom of the neck start to get progressively darker and less polished but still an easy fix. Biggest issue is the humbuckers. They are quite strerophonic and do not take well to pedals. I run a compression and delay and noise gate so to be clear not even using overdrive. They will scream...A LOT. Treble pot switch feels identical to my epiphone les paul. The value is still stupid on this; a great first guitar or MOD project or maybe you wanna try something outside your style without spending 4 or 5 hundred bucks

Disappointing fret issue
These are generally really nice guitars for the money. Nice neck and body and very nicely finished. However after I had mine about a week beyond the return cut-off date I discovered that there is a problem with the fret spacing. It appears that the spacing of the 15th and 16th frets is reversed. Very disappointing quality control for an otherwise cool guitar. I would gladly take credit on another of their products but unfortunately I discovered the problem too late.
