A fine enclosure
First off I am using this with a 160 GB 5400 rpm drive, so I cannot attest to the enclosure functioning outside of these specifications, but expect that it would work up to and probably past the manufacturer stated 500 GB so long as the drive is not running faster than 5400 rpm. The installation could not be easier, just pull apart the top and bottom halves of the enclosure, slip your drive in, and pinch them back together. The enclosure is made from thin aluminum and the edges are exposed, a little rough, and potentially capable of cutting your finger if you are real hands on with the thing. It fits together nicely and comes apart easily, making it decent for swapping raw drives. The enclosure itself looks okay unless really closely examined, in which case you will see the edges. It is smaller than my other enclosures, but seems to provide less sound insulation, I guess it is a trade off. That being said, I am pleased with the ease of installation and the decent fit and finish, particularly at this price point, but mostly I am pleased with its functionality. I was able to use it with only one of the usb cables plugged in to my computer which leaves one male usb plug hanging, it doesn't really bother me but may bother some. This drive comes with a sleeve, which I guess is a nice bonus, but it looks really cheap with uneven stitching, crappy leatherette material, and a nice chemical smell. Overall I am pleased with this enclosure, I like the color, I like that is metal and I like that I didn't drop more than my old hdd's value on it.(Interesting side note, I have a WD passport drive that was plugged into the front port on my case and when I plugged this one in the passport lost enough power that it was intermittently dropping its connection with my computer the two front usb 3.0 ports share a port on the mobo. P.S. I think the quality of the case on my passport drive is worse than this one.)

Well, it works....
Some cables don't work with this but I assume that's a power issue with most external drives like this. Still, I plugged in my 640GB drive in here and attached a cable..... it worked with no problems.Cons:As far as quality, this item comes in a plastic bag that you'd find at a dollar store so you're not getting quality..... but it does what it's supposed to do.... still, I wouldn't drop it in this case because it offers NO protection from a fall. In fact, it's the same result if you dropped it without the enclosure, so be careful with it.Anyway, I'd give this a *BUY* because it's, well, cheap for the price and does the job. I plugged in a 640GB drive and it worked, so I'm assuming that the drive capacity limit is just due to the size of the enclosure. If you have a thick SATA drive, this won't fit. A smaller, normal sized one should do just fine.

Hope this helps others with 7200 RPM Issue
I was extremely annoyed when, after purchasing, I read other reviews claiming that this does not work with 7200 rpm drives. (who has 5400 anymore anyway??)But actually this case DOES work with a 7200 rpm drive--the trick is that you have to use a different mini usb cable. I have plenty of extra mini usb's from old cell phones, so this was no problem, and it's much less cumbersome than the dual-usb plug. I did find one old 5400 rpm drive, which i tried with the original cable, just to see if it would work, but it would not stay powered on either.Bottom Line: the case DOES work. I bought 8 of them, and they're all fine, BUT the cable is faulty. Subtracting a star for the bad cable, but not two stars since I have a million old mini usb cables I would have thrown away otherwise.

Tight fit, not easy to pry open
It’s a very tight fit; as well as a bit difficult to take apart i.e. I had to pry it open with a tool so I could install my drive, which I had to squeeze into the enclosure & & try not to break my drive. If. I wanted to take it out it’s virtually impossible to do so, so this is now a permanent external drive. The case is also pretty thin, I was afraid it might bend or break on me when I was working with it.. 1/10 wouldn’t recommend.. spend the extra $$ on a more durable case that comes with the tool to screw it together. I have one of those for another drive & it works so much better.

Nothing fancy, does the job.
Simple in every way, nothing fancy but does what it was built to do. Tested it out, houses 2.5" HDD and SSD drives with no problem, no tools needed as the top cover fits into place. I did like the thin protective layer that's provided where the drive would rest on top of. Looks sleek, yet metal feels cheap and looks as if its prone to scratches. Soup cans are more durable. Only design flaw is the indicating light sticks out a bit much and can easily be broken off if one is not careful. Despite that and the low quality metal, it works just fine.

Works fine.
A good value and works fine. I used some for a few extra SSDs I had. In spite of some SSD's having a current rating (at 5V) greater than the standard USB limit of 500mA (it comes with a dual-head cable!). it works OK. Either the PC's output is not really current limited, or the SDD current is conservatively rated, or maybe it's a newer PC designed for faster charging.NOTE: if you do need both heads plugged into your PC, be sure to plug these two in FIRST and THEN the mini-A into the drive. Otherwise, it may not startup right (had that happen on a corporate Lenovo).

Cheap and Functional - Just Don't Expect Precise Engineering
First of all, this is a dirt-cheap product that performs as advertised, so, if this is what you need, buy it. That being said, there was one downside, which was that the enclosure is simply very, very tight. I was barely able to snap in my 120GB Kingston V300 - when removing it, I had to use a screwdriver and, in the process, severely damaged the enclosure. It is still functional, but I'm not sure I'll ever get the HDD I currently have in there back out. It's tight because it has no other mechanism to hold the drive in place, but this seems like overkill.PROS: Cheap, works, and includes cord and bag.CONS: Very tight - if you plan top insert and remove a drive, this could be a one-time-use product.

It's good but the hard drive doesn't sit flush inside
It's good but the hard drive doesn't sit flush inside, therefore it ends up disconnecting at the slightest movement. Still, for the price and design, this is a no-brainer i'd say.

Works perfectly
No complaints or issues. My laptop died. It's very easy to remove the hard drive and install it in one of these cases. It now works just like any external hd and I didn't lose any files. Cheap fix.

Does The Job Well!
Does the job, and quite attractive. No problems transferring data onto the drive I installed in it. One star off because it says it includes screws and a screwdriver; it does not, and doesn't use screws. I'm hoping the snap-on won't loosen over time. Also, to align with the connector, the HD had to be just a millimeter further than the edge of the case, meaning I had to sort of force it and have the connector go slightly crooked. It works OK though.

I recommend this hard drive enclosure
Had my old 2.5" hard drive from an old laptop that had bit the dust and used this enclosure to retrieve my files which I had thought thought lost forever . There isn't any screws with this one just line everything up and it snaps tightly together. I recommend this hard drive enclosure!
