Quick and easy install, great customizable sound.
The best way to add a pickup to a non-electric acoustic. I replaced a previously installed under-bridge piezo. I thought the guitar sounded good before but was tired of digging in the body to change the 9v battery. Install was very quick since the peg hole was already drilled. The sound was amazing and the bow on top is the USB recharging. There is an option to run the wiring external if you don't wish to drill the peg hole.

Great replacement for Fender Redondo Acoustic Electric stock pickups!
I wasn't happy with the Fender Redondo Fishman preamp stock system. I thought it was weak and lacking in tone. Keep in mind I plug into a Fender Supersonic amp head running through an orange 2x12 cab. It is my main rig for gigging and I do not want to purchase an acoustic amp. I thought I would take a chance on this pickup, it was well worth the $41. Sounds lightyears better, more response more attack more control. I found I would have to turn up the volume on my amp for the fishman system but that is not the case with this pickup. My volume remains the same for my electrics and acoustics. Install was easy, I mounted it into the sound hole, then ran the wire down to the output jack. I ended up disconnecting the output jack wire from the fishman preamp system. Then I took the X2 jack and installed it in its place near the battery compartment. Tucked the wires inside the body and finished. The stock Fishman preamp tuner still functions because I let the battery stay. Great system and highly recommend to swap out these fishman preamp systems.

Unnatural magnetic tone, but the mic helps
I bought this to replace the ES-GO mag pickup in my girlfriend's Taylor GS-Mini because the sound was horrible, had no volume/tone control and, being passive, it required the gain to be set at max on our mixer board during gigs.First off, you really have to like the tone of a magnetic pickup in an acoustic guitar to "get along" with this Double XO (or any) acoustic mag pickup. Personally, I don't like the sound of mag pickups in acoustic guitars. They have that hollow, magnetic tone that is not anything like the natural acoustic tone of the instrument....especially when playing higher up the neck. The addition of the blendable condenser mic helps add some "airyness" but can make it more susceptible to feedback if too much is dialed in.I can say this Double XO pickup is head over heels better than the Taylor Es-Go (which is designed specifically for the GS-Mini). The fact that you can adjust volume and tone for both the mag and mic is a great feature. Add in the rechargeable battery, which has an incredible capacity (100 hrs they state?) and ease of installation, then I dare say that you won't find a better bang for the buck pickup.I also bought the Schatten HFN passive system for her guitar, in case that mag tone starts to grind on me. The Schattens are pretty low output, usually requiring an outboard preamp, but sound amazing (I've installed it on 2 other guitars). We're trying to keep her setup easy-easy, so we'll try the Double XO for a couple of open mics before doing any gigs. Will update after playing a few venues with the XO pickup.

Great sound & quality for the money
Great sound & quality for the money. Not hard to install, would recommend using blue locktite on the threads to keep it snug. Annoying to feed a cable through the strings to recharge, but not the worst, just have to be dilligent to charge it ahead of needing it.

Sounds great and offers different mounting options too.
I've purchased 2 of these pickups so far. I was very impressed with the first one in terms of both sound and ease of installation. I install one inside a guitar(drilling out the strap endpin hole) and the other guitar I just left the cord externally mounted so the unit could be moved later if I so chose. It's also a vintage guitar and I didn't want to adversely affect the guitars value by drilling unwanted holes. I can't speak to long-term longevity, but they give 2 different ways to install, they have both piezo AND magnetic pickups and controls to shape and blend the 2 type of sounds. It has the added benefit of being USB rechargeable via the included cord so you don't need a 9volt battery to run this.
