The Princeton Companion to Applied Mathematics

Incredible anthology of applied math
I bought this book as a companion to the Companion to Pure Mathematics and have no regrets whatsoever. It has brought me nothing but joy and fascination so far, after reading several pages and skimming all across the book. Just perfect for a layman with a math undergrad degree who wants to sample diverse topics without risking exposure to the bad or poorly-curated writing one often finds on Wikipedia or Reddit.

Great reference in applied mathematics
Great book to get the whole picture in the field of applied mathematics.I am an adult learner and as such I would have appreciated more in-depth dissected math examples. I guess the specialized books referenced throughout the articles address the topics in a more precise manner.worth the price though when you love math

Buy this pair of books
I first bought "The Princeton Companion to Mathematics" and saw that "The Princeton Companion to Applied Mathematics" was a natural complement to the first. It was logical to get both. Both are very comprehensive and well organized. I wish I had the mind to comprehend all of it, but at least I have excellent reference material on a vast array of topics.

If you like applied maths
If you like applied maths, don't hesitate to buy this book.I am a retired engineer in applied mathematics and I did see and follow the evolution of the field (introducing MATLAB in my company many years ago). Now I have more time to look at the so many diverse and interesting aspects of the field. I recommend this book and also the Princeton Companion to Mathematics, both are your time worth.

Excellent hefty reference book covers a broad spectrum of applied math topics in relatively short (several pages) and self-contained chapters. For the most part, you can dip into individual chapters as needed. The chapters are accessible for readers with a background at the lower division (sometimes upper division) undergraduate level but they have enough detail to provide a good start for more advanced practitioners. I would highly recommend this book.
