4 years and still going strong
This water heater is awesome nearly 4 years and going strong. When we bought our fixer upper, this was put in to replace an 80 Gallon traditional HW heater. I wanted the efficiency of not storing water. There are 3 adults in the house, so typical water usage. I ran the 4 sets of high voltage wires to the circuit panel with required 4 double throw 240v circuits, to power it so you have to have a fair amount of room in your service panel to make this work. I love the way it is easy to adjust HW down to 80 degrees. We have a hose hook up for convenience right at the unit in the garage. This makes it easy to do water changes on my fish tank as well are on a well with great water and I don’t have to treat it. Also nice to have warm water for washing cars and we never run out of hot water. Would definitely recommend a buy.

Limited lifetime warranty, great customer service.
This thing is super high quality! I was expecting a cross between an anvil and a hot water heater for the price. I was impressed the second I took it out of the box. I installed mine myself. I had some plumbing refits since I was going from a tank to tankless. The wiring was pretty strait forward, but these things do pull a ton of amps.I installed mine and all the lights in the house flickered as the heater cores cycled. I had more than enough service to the house. There is a ton of stuff on the web about tankless waterheater doing this, not just EcoSmart. Somewhere outside my house in the power lines there is a loose neutral wire connector. You can forget getting the power company to chase the line and fix it. So now I am freaking out. I have plumbed and wired for this and now I am going to have to send it back and change everything for a tanked heater.....or so I thought.I called EcoSmart and talked to Juan. I explained to him what was happening. He knew what it was doing and he explained to me that they can help. All I had to do was open the control box and move a jumper that slowed down the cycle. I took me longer to open the box than it did to fix it.Now hot water all the time. I have turned on 5 sinks and 2 showers (with the outside temp of 34) just to see what the max I could use at one time. I could not tell a temperature difference with all in use.Last, these things have a limited lifetime warranty.I would recommend any EcoSmart product because of the customer service, the quality, ease of installation, and the lifetime warranty.

Make sure to register it within 30 days
The media could not be loaded. I bought the unit in May 2023 for an addition I was planning to build onto my house. I didn't open the box or read the manual to learn that there is no warranty unless you register the product within 30 days of purchase until it was too late.As soon as the unit was powered up it had problems with the motherboard. It would not turn on when the water started flowing. I had two master electricians and a master plumber troubleshoot the unit before calling customer service. Both electricians told me the power was good. They could get the unit to turn on by applying pressure to certain places on the control board or wires but it would become unresponsive after. Eventually it quit turning on completely. I reported the problem to customer service and they sent a replacement motherboard free of charge even though I had not registered the warranty. With the new motherboard installed the unit works but will only power on 2 of the 4 heating elements. If the water flow exceeds 1.3gpm the unit returns an error code E5, which usually means the water flow is too high for the unit, but the unit should operate with as much as 6gpm at my incoming water temp of 67°F. I contacted customer support again and they cannot help me. They suggested purchasing a new flow sensor, which doesn't make sense because it is displaying the correct flow amount on the unit; the unit just thinks that 1.4+gpm is too much and will not kick on the other heating elements. All heating elements, thermistors, and the fuse have been checked by a master electrician according to the company's troubleshooting guide. They will not replace the unit because I didn't register the warranty in time. So the unit powers one shower but no more, and there doesn't seem to be a way to fix it.Lesson learned. Make sure to register any appliance purchase within 30 days and be prepared for the spam emails to surge a bit after they sell your information to data farms.
