A worthy investment
Firstly this product is glass! Which is perfect. It's lightweight but sturdy. This product is super handy for kefir culture growers. It has saved me so much time! The integrated strainer makes collecting the kefir and washing the grains extremely easy. The clear lid allows air in while preventing things getting into the culture. My water kefir grains have more than doubled, they love this product. The little instruction manual and recipe book are great. I had never thought of cooking with kefir. So it's given me lots of ideas. It's not cheap, but it is worth the investment. You get everything you need. No need to buy a strainer to harvest the kefir, or muslin for the top of the jar to keep things out of the culture. The little stick is very useful too. It's a shame it is plastic, glass would have been nicer.

No bad but not too good.
Is great to make small amount of dairy keffir . But strainer could be better! Quite large gaps for keffir grains.Good things about this product it ventilation lid for fermentation. You just pooring the milk and make a small adjustment on the lid.Avoid the insects and there are enough ventilation to make a great keffir

Works like a dream.
After years of discomfort, and having read Tim Spector’s book “The Diet Myth”, with it’s recommendation of fermented foods, I decided to try making kefir myself. This fermenter is a good size for the counter top, and easy to use and clean. You can use cows milk or vegetable milks; I make oat milk kefir. It’s tart and slightly fizzy, and is drinkable or you can use it as I do, on my muesli. My irritable gut has calmed considerably, and I can even eat pasta now with little or no discomfort.I’ve also grown to love the taste.

I have several of these
I also have the bigger jars and the second fermentation lids. I have been using them for a couple of tears, with a fine plastic sieve rather than straining threough the lid. The tall jar has a special spoon that I use to gently gather the largest grains from any jar. I pop these smaller jars in my bread proofer, if needed and then strain into a tall jar for secondary fermentation. The jars are quite an outlay but are very srurdy and they clean well in the dishwasher. I have recently purchased vegetable fermenters from the same company and had very good results. The same glass jars but different lids etc. I am thinking of using these veg lids on the glass kefir jars, I have enough lids to swap around and fermentation is basically the same whatever the contents, hence I am sure the lids are interchangeable.

Handy Equipment
I like the idea of easily pouring the kefir out after fermentation but I didn't really get on that well with it. Some small bits of grain seemed to always get through and if I used the thinner side, the kefir was too thick to pour out. I resorted to just pouring straight into a sieve which is successful every time. I still like and use the jar though as it's a good size, the top can open and close to let air in if required and it has a large neck making it practical for cleaning.

Perfect
If you make kefir and don't have the right equipment at home this is great. I still use a sieve to strain it but you don't have to, you can use the lid. The spoon is very useful, you need the long handle to give it a good stir. It's a great buy.
