A Pleasant GF Surprise! Give them a try!
I wasn't much of a Pop Tarts eater before getting diagnosed with Celiac, so these toaster pastries(we call them Glu Tarts in our house) aren't a replacement for Pop Tarts for me. If you're looking for a GF replacement for a frosting covered Pop Tart I don't think you'll be happy with these toaster pastries. But if you're looking for a plain old GF toaster pastry, these are really very good. I much prefer the Apple Cinnamon to the Strawberry. I have re-purchased the Apple Cinnamon, but would never get the Strawberry again. The Strawberry ones taste more like apple with a smack of strawberry. The Apple Cinnamon taste like Apple Cinnamon. When toasted long enough (3 or 4 minutes in my toaster), the crust turns a nice golden brown. Though I haven't tried it yet, I think a freshly toasted Apple Cinnamon one with a scoop of vanilla ice cream on top would be a yummy dessert!I have had 4 or so boxes of these toaster pastries and have not had the trouble with mold that some other reviewers have had.I buy these from Amazon and they are also readily available in grocery stores in my area.

from tasty treat to dried up cracker
Have bought these at different times in the past year and it seems to be hit and miss with getting a "good" batch. For awhile it was all good and then the troubles began... A good batch usually has enough filling and has a crust that doesn't completely crumble when you take a bite. The last couple of boxes have had tarts that are smaller & thicker and appears to be almost entirely dried out pastry with just a smear of strawberry filling in between. With the shape being smaller and condensed it is now also thicker around the edges, as if the pastry was rolled wrong, too. It possibly may have been an attempt at finding a better way to seal the pastry and eliminate filling leakage which has happened with some of the other individual pastry bags. Or perhaps the previous mold issue was attributed to the filling leakage/abundance. Either way, my entire family is considering moving on from what was once a delightful treat. And for whatever reason, this dryer version also seems to be creating tummy-aches all around,too-even with the non-gluten issue family members. Something is just off with some of these batches.

Tasty!
I was so excited when I discovered these. The rest of my family are poptart eaters and I felt left out. The reason I gave them a four out of five star though was that they are a little dry and don't have anything like the sugary goodness like poptarts do on the top. I did find if I add a little butter to the top or even peanut butter they or better. As with many other gluten free products they are better when toasted but still edible if not. They are good and do not have an odd texture as many gluten free items do. Even though I say the negative things about them I still do say they are the best out there for this type of product. I recommend these to my gluten free community all the time.

It's fairly fair.... a poptart for those that can't handle gluten; it's not bad....
My first impression: Not bad.Let's face it, these aren't the same pop-tarts that I grew up on, but for being Gluten free (an intolerance that I have had for the last several years) they aren't bad. The crust is flaky, but the filling could be more rich--if your looking for a rich sugary presence, it is absent, so don't buy this (or if you want to try it anyway, top it with some jam which makes it better). The filling alone isn't a flavor that seeps through strongly, but is more of an aftertaste to the pasty aspect itself. For someone with a strong palate this means that you may want the presence of stronger flavors. For those that don't mind a lackluster effect, then eat as is. This is a product that I would buy again, but also one that I would further enhance with jellies and jams.

Tasty!
My husband (who I bought these for) did not like them. They don't get as flaky/buttery as his pop-tarts do and he said they tasted like they weren't "done" all the way, a little dough-ey. I could see where he could draw that conclusion. When I tried to toast them a little longer to get a little golden brown on them, they burned on the edges. I don't eat the amount of processed foods he does though, so these tasted good to me.Would definitely buy again for me, but your Picky Eater may not like them.

All I wanted was a poptart
I seriously asked the Universe why if there were GF granola bars, dinner rolls and baguettes, cake, brownies, pasta, mac & cheese frozen dinners, even gravy, couldn't there be poptarts? It's the junk food from my childhood I missed most. Then, one day at a Sprouts (which is like a small Whole Foods, with a couple of aisles of gf carbs in various forms), I saw the box. I didn't buy it then, though. Weeks would go by. While shopping on Amazon I remembered the poptarts and decided to add them to my order. I was thrilled. I waited in a disbelieving anticipation. When the order arrived I immediately opened the box and stuck two of the pastries into my toaster. The smell of heating strawberry flavored corn syrup filled the kitchen and I had childhood flashbacks to happy days of sweet treats for breakfast. I bit into the pastry and joyfully chewed. Like most gf products the "wheat" part was dry, much drier than even a discount/knockoff poptart. It crumbled in my fingers even as I pushed it into my mouth. When this happens with gf products I remind myself I'm eating it anyway, why does it matter if it crumbles before it gets to my mouth. Sadly, also like many processed gf products this was oversweet -- but in a bland way that always confuses me when I try new gf products. Another weird thing is that the pastry is tough, requiring a certain amount of tugging in some places, even as it crumbles in others (and all over the plate, my hands, my lap, my floor...). I'm sure they left off the icing because of the intense sweetness of the filling and pastry...but that's part of what made it so disappointing and so dry.I really can't recommend this. Maybe poptarts need to just be something left to nostalgia...
