More sleep! No more creepy toddler pre-dawn stares!
So much more sleep! Our toddler is an early riser - like 5am early rise. We, the parents, don't always love tackling the day quite so early, so we were at quite the impasse. Even with access to lots of toys and books, toddler still wanted (early) morning attention and conversation... and the bedtime routine was sometimes a little rough. We were getting kid of desperate.Then... this clock. This glorious, wonderful, magical clock.Full disclosure, this isn't going to work for everyone and every toddler. Ours happens to enjoy routine and structure, so this clock is basically worth its weight in gold. If you have a toddler that does well with routines, this is the clock for you! We use it for the following:- Staying in bed - this is huge in the morning! Toddler has to stay in bed until it turns orange. We still have to set it fairly early (otherwise toddler is prone to wetting the bed after waking or just lays there, bored for too long). But we're pretty certain that it has encouraged more sleep as toddler wakes up around 5, sees that it's still blue, and dozes for another hour. We used the alarm feature on the weekdays when we needed to get going, but we stopped that, since toddler wakes up before that anyway and we try to encourage more sleep whenever possible.- Nap Times - having a separate nap feature is awesome! Even when toddler gives up naps (we dread the day, but, like winter, we know it's coming), we plan on enforcing 'quiet time' or 'feet off floor time' to give parents a break and active toddler a needed rest. Since toddler is very used to having to stay in bed while the clock is blue, we foresee a fairly easy transition. But the nap timer actually made nap times easier, as toddler knows the routine and knows that once the clock is on, they have to stay in bed.- Time out - love that this can be customized and it does a small beep when the time out is over. Sadly, our toddler figured out the 'secret' (eye roll) method of button clicking to change it back to orange, so we've had to put it up on a high shelf during time outs (the battery feature comes in especially handy then).- 'Encourage' - to be honest, we've only used this once or twice, and we tried it for potty training (didn't really work - toddler is stubborn, but whatever). If we really needed to focus on a particular activity, it could come in useful - perhaps set for 5 minutes and kids have to clean up or do something as long as it's green? Not sure, but even if we don't use it now, I'm sure we'll find a use down the road!- White noise - we're not white noise all the time type of folks - we don't want to be dependent on that to sleep. But we do have a few minutes of white noise to transition from the music to sleep. If we were sleeping in a different environment away from home, we might use more white noise. Either way, it's a great option to have!Cons - (There has to be something!) I do wish there were more story/music options. I think the 'story' for bed time is super lame, but toddler doesn't seem to mind. I would like to change it up, but it seems like all the music is the same, so I'm not paying a bunch of extra money to hear a slightly different, lame 'story' for 10 minutes. We read to toddler anyway, we just use the story feature as a signal that lights should be off and sleep is imminent.Honestly, this clock is super functional and allows for a ton of customization, which is why we coughed up a few extra dollars over the other popular toddler clocks. We've really loved all the features feel like this has really helped us get more sleep for everyone involved. Most toddlers wants to do the right thing, and if you can start them young enough (maybe 18 months? depending on the kid), I think this really sets a tone and great expectations for sleep.Good night and good luck!

This clock worked WONDERS for us! Highly recommended for anyone struggling to keep their little one in their bed!
I rarely write reviews but had to for this product. We set up a new room, with a big boy bed, for our 2 year old as baby brother is due soon and will be taking over the nursery. We got the room all set up and got him excited about moving – he loved the room and quickly started to say that the crib was “only for babies”. While the room looked great, we couldn’t keep him in the bed at night or nap time. We’d go through our entire nap / bedtime routine and talk with him about how he couldn’t get out of bed. As soon as we’d leave the room, literally seconds later, he’d be out of his bed and opening the door. We’d put him right back in his bed, tell him firmly he couldn’t get out, leave the room, and the same cycle would go on for over an hour. Other nights we’d stay in the room with him until he fell asleep, which didn’t work very well either. It would take up to 2 hours and most of the time he’d be “checking” to ensure we were still there. This went on for 10 nights – until the magical clock arrived!I set up the clock, wrapped it up and give it to him on a Monday evening about an hour before bed time. We spent about 15 minutes talking about the clock and the blue and yellow colors. Blue means night-night stay in the bed, yellow means wake up get out of bed. We watched the clock turn blue, did our routine, made a big deal out of getting / staying in bed and it WORKED! He did not get out of his bed that night and has not (at either nap or bedtime) since! Additionally he doesn’t get out of bed until the clock turns yellow in the morning. I think for him it was a clear understanding (with colors) of what we were trying to tell him, and it put a positive spin on when it was okay to get out of bed.Additionally we love the white noise which we have set to go on at bed and naptime. As soon as he hears the noise he runs over to check the color. The clock also serves as a nightlight which you can set the brightness on. Once he’s a little older we’ll also be able to use the clock to teach him to tell the time, and as an alarm clock (I believe you get set music to start at the wake up time). This product was clearly designed by individuals with children as the buttons to set the various functions are hiding behind the front cover. The only exposed buttons are the 5 color buttons on the top which can quickly activate naptime or start / end bedtime and awake time outside of the scheduled time if needed. In order to do so you have to press the color once, then press a second time and hold for 5 seconds. I try and not let my little one see me do this so he doesn’t figure it out but even if he did 5 seconds is a lifetime for a toddler so very unlikely he’d do anything but press the buttons quickly (which would have no impact) and lose interest.Thank you so much to the makers of this product for helping out a very tired and frustrated mom and dad – and for making for a happy 2 year old!
