It works! Great idea, great product.
I can't believe I've been without this for so long. I have had the problem of my skimmer basket floating out of the skimmer for, like, forever. It's so annoying. I have the filter on a timer to go on at night. In the morning, when it shuts off, the skimmer would float out and TURN UPSIDE DOWN! So, if I was in a rush or forgot to empty the basket, the next time the filter turned on, all the debris would just go straight into the filter! And, the basket in the way of the flow of water would make the filter cavitate. Now, with the weight, that never happens! I did not secure the weight to my basket, I have two baskets, and I dump/turnover the full one into the empty one, remove the weight, then empty the debris. I can then return the dry/empty basket to the skimmer. I may just buy a 2nd weight so that I can attach them and not worry about losing it. (PS - I tried rocks, stones, etc. before buying this - they were a pita because they were too difficult to pick out of the basket. A large rock would block too much of the flow of water.)

I guess it works
My pool pump was corroded (salt water pool) will see if this helps. But I already have one “ in line” and it didn’t. I put this one in the pump strainer.

Seems to work fine, with one important caveat
This seems to work fine. Was in my pool for 4 months with no issues, still looking pretty much good as new... but one lesson I learned the hard way though is DO NOT put this in a skimmer basket or in close quarters with a PoolRx algicide pod. The copper the pod releases will react with the anode and corrode it within days. What you see in the picture occurred in just 48 hours after adding the PoolRx pod! The same thing will happen with any zinc anode as there is apparently a known reaction between the two metals when water is involved. I didn't know this until it was too late... luckily the anode is still perfectly usable, just with a shortened lifespan. I will leave it out of the pool so long as the PoolRx pod is being used.

Great little gadget
The best part of the zinc skimmer basket weight is the zip tie that holds it in the basket. The original was not secured an pool guy threw it out while dumping basket

Salt system pool requirement
Can't say how it's working, but with a salt system swimming pool these anodes are imperative to prevent corrosion of metal component in the filter system and pool. I have found none since getting it and thus presume it's working as designed and explained.

Its a simple piece of metal that you tie-wrap to the bottom of your skimmer basket - the idea is that this would corrode first before other metals in your pool system. Its made for Saltwater pools. Another benefit is it acts as a weight to ensure your skimmer basket in secured properly. Not much else to say :-)
