I'll keep buying this one
Comes with VERY good fitting instructions. It's important to follow them exactly. I suspect a lot of the negative reviews are from people who did not follow the instructions. I'm on my second one of these, and it's super comfortable. I'm fact, I'm wearing it right now writing this review after fitting it 30 minutes ago and haven't bothered to remove it, because it's that comfortable!

Doesn't fit small/petite mouth
I am a very petite lady with small bone structure and small mouth/teeth/bite. My dentist recommended this brand so I purchased from Amazon at the sale price.1) It was very hard to get this soft enough to squish on to my teeth/bite. I had to keep re-heating the bowl of water (mug is too hard to fit the item).2) When it finally was near boiling water, I followed instructions (twice). Slid the guard into my mouth to create the teeth shaping. My front teeth weren't near the front plastic as they describe while my back teeth were in the goopy stuff and the hard plastic was pushing against my jaw muscles.I let it set and then pulled out. I thought the hard plastic would come away but it does not. The "tray" isn't really a tray like other brands. the rubber guard doesn't come out or off of the harder plastic section. So, when I put it back in to fit to the teeth, the back plastic was almost gagging me and the front teeth plastic was poking out of my lips. You know what they say about 1 size fits all... it's all bologna! A big man might find this a good guard to use, but for the smaller woman, you should look elsewhere.1) there is no product refund guarantee. The guarantee on the box says that it will always fit...no offer for refund if it doesn't work. Only phone number to have someone help you try and try again. I can't get my $ back now... waste from my wallet.I've purchased another brand that hopefully will work for me and if not, they have a refund guarantee.

100% more comfortable
I tried a couple of the more expensive on-line take a mold and mail it in variety of night guards and they were so uncomfortable that I would take it out in the middle of the night. I told my dentist and she suggested this brand. 100% more comfortable at a fraction of the price of the others. Expensive is not always better.

Easy to mold, too tight on upper teeth, not enough give
Easier to mold than most. Definitely easier than the Oral-B one. However, following the instructions and pressing the guard against your upper teeth makes it so that it will always leave your upper teeth feeling compressed. Almost like you made it too small. I mean it keeps it snuggly on, but definitely too snug. Which long term I can’t imagine is great for teeth positioning… When molding I’d recommend pressing lighter than you’d think against your teeth.

I'm pleasantly surprised how well this works!
My dentist has been after me to get a night guard due to my severe bruxism (teeth grinding). I had hoped that my teeth grinding would improve once I went on a CPAP to improve my sleep apnea but, sadly, it did not. I told my dentist I didn't want to invest in a custom night guard again, because I'd done that many years ago and then gave up on wearing it within a year or so and all that money was wasted. Plus, the process of having a custom guard made was very unpleasant for me.I looked at several options for storebought night guards and finally decided on this one. The fitting instructions are quite good--thorough and easy to understand. You can either do the quick fit method using the microwave or use the traditional method using a saucepan on the stovetop. It is important to follow the instructions to the letter AND to follow them very quickly to get a good fit, especially when the guard first comes out of the hot water and the bite channel is malleable. WHile I was very fortunate to get a good fit the first time, in terms of my bite, I did not feel that I was as successful at forming the OUTSIDE edge to conform to the outside of my teeth. Then again, I have a very small mouth, so the way mine turned out may just be as good as it's going to get for a small-mouthed person. This brings me to really the only "con" I've encountered in using this product--that it only comes in a "one size fits all" size. Still, despite the fact that the part of the guard OUTSIDE my teeth protrudes more than I'd like (or would be most comfortable), I still do like the night guard and wear it most nights. The night guard comes with a case to store it in, which is great. They recommend using Efferdent Anti-Bacterial Cleanser for cleaning the guard. I did buy some Efferdent tablets and use them maybe once a week, but on a daily basis I wash it well when I first take it out and then at night when I put it back in, I soak it in Listerine Total Care for a few minutes. The minty taste of the mouthwash helps me tolerate having the guard in my mouth. If you have a bad gag reflex, as I do, you may have more issues than the average person in getting ajusted to this night guard. I had issues the first few nights getting used to having it in my mouth and some mornings I have a momentary issue with gagging when I take it OUT of my mouth, but otherwise, no problems at all in terms of gagging. This guard rests behind my upper teeth and does not protrude back on my palate, whereas the custom one my old dentist made me gagged me all the time because it protruded too far back on my upper palate.I just had my first crown done just before I got this guard. My dentist implored me to please start wearing a guard soon after the crown was put in so that I would not put so much pressure on it. The instructions do say to check with your dentist before using this if you have loose fillings, caps or unfilled cavities. One last thing...and I'm not sure if this is a con for the product or just a fit issue for me personally. When I get up in the morning and take out the guard, my bite is off for maybe 10 minutes, and then everything falls back into place and I'm great the rest of the day. I have not yet had my followup appointment with the dentist since wearing the guard so I can't say what he thinks about it, but I do plan to take it with me when I have my next appointment to ask him to check the bite and see if he thinks the bite being a tiny bit off is going to be a problem in the long term. If so, I'd do a refit on the guard.UPDATE: My dentist was at a business conference the day of my appointment but another dentist in the practice said it was no big deal that my bite is off for a short while when I wake up...it is more of a muscular issue than a teeth issue.

Bulky and uncomfortable!
Worst mouthguard I've ever tried. Was a total waste of money. Very bulky, and just nasty in my mouth.
