The Best "Oil Pulling" Experience I've Had!
This "Bare Botanics Oil Pulling for Teeth & Gums (Peppermint) 16 oz" was something I was excited to try, and a little nervous. Nervous because in the past I've tried pulling oils, but I wasn't quite assured about the quality of the product. I really got the sense with this one, that I could trust the ingredients used here and I appreciate the fact this one made in the USA. The idea behind "pulling oil" is that it is an ancient practice to help with your breath and clean the back of your tongue better. I've struggled with an inherited family tendency towards bad breath for years, despite having perfect oral hygiene (daily multiple brushings and daily flossing for years, no gum health issues, no smoking, no untreated decay.... ) I call it our "dragon breath." Nothing really to be done about it unfortunately, I've tried everything. However, I did discover in recent years- even with brushing the back of my tongue with my toothbrush, it wasn't reaching back far enough. I finally arrived at some noticeable improvement when I added "tongue scraping" into my daily routine. You can reach further back with a tongue scraper. You just pull any slime you can get off forward with it. You will be amazed at how effective tongue scraping is, compared to just brushing your tongue with your toothbrush! And then you gargle with this fractionated coconut oil which is supposed to "pull" away more of the odor causing elements. Apparently, this is an ancient practice, one that we forgot about in Western culture until recently. The oil feeling in your mouth is always a bit unsettling, gargling with this- the odd feel is typical. The directions say to "not spit it down the drain" (I think this is because it is oil , and you don't want to clog pipes or the septic system,) but it is a small amount you are gargling with each time, you can easily spit it into your bathroom trash. Also, they say not to swallow this, you need to spit it out. One thing that stood out to me about this pulling oil in particular is that when you are swishing it and gargling it for the 30 seconds, you can't taste the mint in it, it has the usual tepid fractionated coconut oil taste and feel, but then after you spit it out, you start to feel the mint in a nice tingle. I thought that really helped get past the sort of coated tasteless coconut oil feel in my mouth and throat after. The tongue scraper for this set isn't the worst, nor the best tongue scraper I've tried. I thought the width on this one was good, but the angle of it could be improved upon to reach a little bit farther and scrape a little bit better, but it is decent and works ok. I definitely would order this oil pulling set again and would happily recommend this one over the others I've tried before now.

Fresh, fresh breath
The mint flavor of this is just right, not overpowering or spicy. The included tongue scraper puts this kit over the top in terms of having the best breath around. You use a very tiny amount, which I am thankful for as the texture of any oil in my mouth is not a fave, and swish it around. It needs to be spit into a garbage can or similar and not in the sink. It is made with coconut oil, which solidifies at certain temps so can cause major pipe clogs. This was easy to add into my daily routine. I haven't noticed a difference in tooth color but I do like that my breath is fresh, even in the morning. The price is great, as the bottle is quite large and lasts a long time.

Pleasantly Oily Consistency. Nice, Subtle Flavor. Plastic Bottle. Gentle Tongue Scraper.
I ordered this pulling oil in the flavor “Cinnamon,” which is exciting, since I usually only find mint flavors. The flavor tastes fantastic and is not at all spicy on the tongue, like cinnamon can sometimes be. It’s subtle and delightful. And I really like the oily, fairly viscous consistency of this solution. Others I’ve tried have felt much more watered-down, which I don’t like as much. This arrived with the kit packed neatly inside very pretty cardboard brand packaging that looked rather elegant and felt sturdy to protect the bottle during shipping. The stainless steel tongue scarper was wrapped individually inside a paper packet. I have a lot of these stainless steel tongue scrapers by now, as they’re often included with oil pulling blends, so I didn’t necessarily need another one, as they don’t really wear out or go bad. Still, this one is nice and large, so it covers a lot of surface area in one swipe. It’s comfortable to grip with its smoothed out edges. And it has the brand logo etched elegantly into the handle. Because it’s so smooth, though, it doesn’t provide as much extreme scraping power as some of my other tongue scrapers, so I won’t be switching over to this one, having gotten accustomed to a severe tongue scrape. The pulling oil itself is contained within a dark-colored, plastic bottle that is easy to open with my weak, painful hands, and whose protective seal beneath the cap was also very easy for me to remove, thankfully. I like the dark coloring of the bottle, as that appropriately protects the liquid from sustaining light-induced damage, but I do not like the plastic material, as I consider plastic to be an irredeemable contaminant. Since an understood aspect of oil pulling is to remove (or pull) toxins, I personally find it counter-productive that toxins from the plastic bottle will have already likely been pulled into the oil. The included measuring cap is also plastic, unfortunately (I’ll just use a tablespoon to measure the oil out, since that’s the metric recommended anyway). The pulling oil ingredients are listed as follows: Fractionated Coconut Oil, Vitamin D3, Vitamin E, Cinnamon Essential Oil. I’m happy with those.I actually have an oil-pulling habit during the mornings that I’m unwilling to alter, so I don’t use this in the morning as recommended. Instead, I’ve incorporated it into my usual nighttime oil pulling routine, scraping my tongue afterward. As is indicated on the bottle’s labeling, you don’t want to swallow this after swishing it for a while and you don’t want to spit it down a drain, as it is likely to build up in a drain and cause clogs, being that it’s an oil. I spit it directly into my kitchen trash can, as that’s the trash can I empty most often.
