The app was simple to find, open, and use to get the tags running—very user-friendly. These tags are compact, have replaceable batteries, and produce decent sound for their size. The package includes four tools for battery replacement and four lanyards, which adds value. Overall, they seem like a great deal.However, I feel I should deduct one star for two reasons (but both may not even be the tags fault). First, the AirTags didn’t work with my iPhone 7 without setting up a passcode, which I’ve never used and don’t want to. Oddly, they worked fine on my wife’s iPhone 16 Pro, my daughter’s iPhone 11, and my son’s iPhone 16 Pro Max, all without requiring a passcode. Second, the tracking functionality didn’t meet my expectations. Which may be my fault being a first time user. I bought these for my elderly dog, who sometimes wanders on our 5-acre property. I hoped the AirTags would guide me directly to him from 500–1,000 feet away, but they only led me to a general area—sometimes too far to hear the tag’s sound. By walking around, I could still locate the tag, so it works for my purpose, but I wish the tracking was more precise and that it functioned on my iPhone 7 without a passcode.

Dummy me I ordered two sets but it turned out to be a good thing. They are inexpensive but very effective. The sound it emits isn’t very loud.

I bought these tags before my trip to put in my luggage, but 1 tag wouldn’t pair. I assumed the battery was dead but unfortunately I was not able to change out the battery. I followed the instructions, using the provided tool, trying other tools, and when I tried to use my nail as the book suggests, I ended up breaking it. This concerns me that I won’t be able to change out the batteries on all the other tags when time comes.When it pairs, it seems to work well. The sound is fine. However, if you can’t change the battery, the tag becomes one time use.
