Fine thermometer for backpacking.
I’ve seen a lot of negative reviews on these coghlan thermometers but I can’t agree with them. The build quality seems absolutely fine to me. I hang this on my rucksack when backpacking or outside my tent zipper. A fun little gadget. It’s probably not 100% accurate but it’s unreasonable to expect that from a little thing like this, but it’s accurate enough. I have my suspicions that at times this thermometer reads 2 degrees above the actual temp especially at colder temperatures but I have no way of verifying this so don’t quote me on that I may be wrong. But if you want a ballpark figure of the temperature while your out and about, this is great!

what you pay for is what you get
Does not work properly, temp read a constant level at any temp and it broke after a week. I had it attached to my backpack. I am not sure why you would create something that is so useless. Very disappointed!!!

Nice, simple thermometer, bit worried about condensation
I wanted something to take when I go on my first camp and this seemed a good value, reliable option as there are no batteries needed.I have only taken it out once and it happened to be on the hottest day of the year. I attached it to the back of my backpack and checked on it after about an hour walking. It was full of condensation so I almost couldn't read the temperature. Apparently this means there is a gap where air can get into the thermometer casing.I put it in a bowl of rice overnight and the condensation disappeared but I haven't taken it outside since. If it happens when I'm out camping as I wouldn't know how else to dry it out.I am monitoring its sensitivity and accuracy as it seems to sit at 20 degrees, both in my flat and my parents much colder home where I had it delivered. I put it in the fridge for a few minutes to see if it was actually working. Only when the temperature changes dramatically does it move. Not sure if this is normal as there is a single line on the thermometer right at the 20 degree mark, as if this is its standby position.Overall I still think its good value, you do have to look closely to read the temperature markings but that's to be expected on a keyring-sized thermometer.

Ideal lightweight outdoor thetmometer
I wanted this to check temperature on hillwalking trips. I have it attached to a zipper on my rucksack and it does the job perfectly. The scale is small and you can only just read off to 1 degree Celsius, but that's good enough for the job.

Pretty cool but hard to see
Cool idea! really adds alittle information to your bag zipper or key chain! only thing is that it is very small and hard to see from a quick glance and it would be cool for it to be a bit bigger and maybe have a glow in the dark bit next to it to see in the dark etc! otherwise pretty cool!Big fan of Coghlans!

Excellent Value and does not need a Battery
I have had a small thermometer attached to a rucksack for many years and it has been very useful to know the air temperature when out and about. Unfortunately it recently got lost and this thermometer is the closest replacement. I ordered several extra ones as Christmas 'stocking fillers'. They all give a consistent reading and for less than £2 each are excellent value. They are only plastic so not indestructible but they do the job well. There are digital thermometers, at higher cost, which may be more accurate, but I think they will need batteries which will in time need to be replaced. This one is basic but does the job.

Great little gadget for the hill walker who has everything
Nice little stocking filler for my hiking partner because we always wonder how the actual temperature on the hill compares to the mountain forecast!
