This HandheldDIY Modcase is a superb choice if you are modding your Ally for aesthetics and functionality. It comes in stock styled OG white, a super cool retro style translucent purple, and a very nice DIY cyberpunk clear translucent. I went with the clear translucent to fully show off the inside of my device.The kit comes with everything you need to do the installation yourself and the process is straightforward and not hard to accomplish. You get the backplate, screwdriver, extra screws, thermal pad, silicone adapters for your back buttons, and the strap for attaching to the kickstand. There is a great installation video on the HandheldDIY Youtube channel to follow along or you can follow your favorite Techtubers video. It only took about 10 minutes to install the Modcase.Not only does the backplate look great, but it actually improves gaming on the Ally as well! It has an improved vented airflow design with increased intake and exhaust for better cooling and a nice heat spreader built into backplate with an included silicone thermal pad. This reduces the overall temperature of your handheld which leads to better performance, lower fan noise, improved battery life, and overall the Ally is cooler feeling in hand.The foldable kickstand on the back is very handy and is made of a nice aluminum. It can also be used with the included silicon straps to secure a power bank, USB dock or whatever you like to the back of your Ally, which is super convenient. You can also get a custom aluminum nameplate from HandheldDIY to personalize your Modcase even further or add your own stickers, skins or whatever to make it even more personal and unique.I believe this is the best modcase/backplate in the market for the ROG Ally. It is affordable, gives you everything you need in the box, installs easy, and most importantly looks amazing while actually giving tangible performance improvement. I can't recommend the HandheldDIY Modcase enough, and I'll probably be adding the purple to my cart as well so I can switch looks up on occasion. This looks really nice and feels very pro. I have no idea of the claimed heat / speed improvements are real but it has a MUCH bigger silicon block than the stock unit and the metal grill seems heftier / more heat sinky. Installation was a breeze, the kickstand is solid.I was scared I couldn't get the optional battery wrap off, but I realized you could push down the middle button and it slides out. I have gotten a lot of compliments, especially from people who I say "CHECK OUT THIS SWEET MOD I DID" to at work... :D

Fitment on the case is excellent for both getting the buttons off the original device and then fitting the new case on with the cooling pad. Very nice, OEM-level finish but awesome because you can personalize with the transparent purple and engraving pad. Awesome product!

This is a great upgrade to my ROG Ally. I love the transparent look and the handy kick stand. The product comes with the necessary tools and guide to install. They even included some extra screws for the case just in case you want to switch them out. The install is fairly simple. I love the new heat dissipation upgrade it provides. The final assessory is the strap that can be used to hold a backup power bank. Great product for any Ally owner!

Let me start by saying that there are far more pros then cons to this backplate. Your getting cooler temps (by a few degrees but hay it works), I love the semi transparent purple, the kick stand is solid and the apple watch style battery holder does its job.My biggest issue and the reason I'm knocking a start is that the grip area has zero texture. Making the rog ally slick and a pain to hold. This would be less of a problem if I could just order a case but with the vent redesign there aren't any cases that I feel really work out. I did order some grip stickers but not my favorite solution.All and all a good product just not really perfect.
