Excellent for Center Channel Build
I'm using one of these with a HiVi Sd1.1a to make a HT center channel. Woofer matches well with the tweeter, both have high sensitivity. The output level is unreal for an 8" driver, strong, clean sound w/o the cone hardly moving at all. Needs vented box to get the bass out of the speaker, but hits incredibly hard for an 8" driver. Keeps up with my 12" Hifi Woofers on all but the lowest octave. I originally tried a RS180-4 (about the same price) and the Eminence works much better in my project. Either the RS180-4 91db is exaggerated or the Eminence 94db is conservative, but the Eminence simply runs circles around the RS180-4 in sound output at the same volume setting. Maybe pro and home audio drivers are rated differently? The speaker seems a bit pricey for an 8" with a 20oz magnet, paper cone, and stamped steel frame. I suppose it's how it SOUNDS that matters, not how it's made. Also note the mechanical power capacity is only 50W when used as a midbass according to the Eminence website. Again, Pro and Home drivers may be rated differently.

Great little bass speaker for the money
Bought this speaker to replace the stocker in my Ampeg BA108 after I blew it by turning it up really loud, cranking the bass, and hitting a fuzz pedal. First and only speaker I ever blew in a bass amp since I started playing (ahem!) years ago. Being a working pro, I should have known better. But in the BA108, the Alpha is unblowable even when you crank the bass and hit the fuzz, and sounds as good as the stocker to me. Eminence is a great company, and this speaker may not be their most high end product, but it's a good one.

Great replacement speaker for Fender Mustang I v.2 Guitar Practice Amp
What a huge difference in sound when the cheap OEM speaker is replaced by the Eminence speaker! It was easy to install, too.

Great sounding speaker ...
Used this with two tweeters for an FRFR guitar combo amp build. After reviewing the specs on a lot of different speakers I settled on this one and I am so happy that I did. The install was clean and the light weight of the unit is perfect for a portable guitar amp. I am running it off a 150 watt plate amplifier and it is handling the power and sonics with amazing resilience, clarity and punch.

Good Sounding Speaker
I have had the speaker as a replacement in an acoustic guitar amp and so far it is holding up. I have not pushed it too hard so I cannot attest to its durability but I am quite happy with the sound quality. Not too boomy and good mid range.

Great for guitar as well as PA.
While the Beta 8A is intended as a high power midrange speaker, many users have found that it makes a great full range guitar speaker in both sealed and open cabinets. I’ve used it in a small, vented cabinet for a 60 watt DV Mark guitar head, and in a 10 watt Tech 21 Trademark 10, where it gave more efficiency and a tighter, less flabby, bass than the stock speaker.

It was nice to have that bottom end with no distortion or ...
I use an Acoustic B410mkII cabinet and it packs a huge punch. One of the speakers blew out and so it would create this distorted rattle, and it was so embarrassing... I replaced that blown speaker with the Eminence, and I haven't had any problems. In fact, after replacing it, I took it to a gig a couple weeks ago (my gigs usually last 4 hours) and I had no problems whatsoever. It was nice to have that bottom end with no distortion or crackling. I highly recommend these speakers to other musicians!
