Great ceramic recurve blade sharpener
This is one of the most popular and toughest ceramics for sharpening a machete blade. Especially recurve or kukri-style knives or a kukri-style machete. I have a Kershaw Kukri machete and haven't yet used this ceramic. But if you're willing to learn about field sharpening a knife or with this a machete is a great tool. It's designed for sharpening and honing carbon steel machetes. Recurve blades mostly. and I predominantly only buy carbon steel knives and machetes, etc made of carbon steel or alloys. This ceramic pen holds the ceramic inside the pen. Pull it apart and the exposed end of the ceramic can be set back into the barrel of the pen and held really well and safely to sharpen a dulled or rolled-edge knife or machete. Highly recommend harder steel blades. Especially recurve blades.

Excellent quality
Purchased this sharpener to maintain the sharpness of my everyday pocket knife. It’s sleek design allows me to carry it with me so it’s always handy when time to put that needed edge on my knife. I bought one to stay in my backpack when I’m hunting. Would never be w/o this sharpener. Slim design, easy and lightweight, easy to grip and most of all, excellent for keeping that needed edge on that favorite knife.

Field Sharpening Made Easy
The Schrade Diamond Dust sharpener puts a nice edge to your field or survival knife. It is small, lightweight and can be carried in a pocket, or EDC bag for use when needed. It is NOT a replacement for serious honing with oil and stones, but it will keep a good working edge on your blade when and where you need it.The one drawback that made it lose one star is the case it comes in. It fits into the supplied holder with an attached pocket clip. The sharpener fits in so loosely that it falls out with slight movement or pressure. I applied a tiny amount of tape to decrease the circumference and retain the unit tightly. For the price and functionality of the Schrade SCHDDS, it is a worthwhile investment.

Everything I expected it to be...
I purchased this sharpener after I had watched a tutorial by Schrade on YouTube on how to sharpen serrated blades with the product...the narrow "rat tail" shape is excellent for those very small scallops on some serrated blades...It can sharpen regular knives as well...it is light but substantial... the pocket clip & it's Parker pen size make it an easy carry...also delivery was very prompt...I would say it is a good product to have in the field when you need to touch up your blades on the go...

Compact and sharpens a little.
Ive used this a few times to try and help sharpen a Schrade SCHF9N but sadly i havnt had much luck with getting the knife to be as sharp as i would like. A wetstone is still the way to go. But if you need a sharpen on the fly this little guy is nice and compact and can be stuck into a survival kit.

Exceeds expectations.
I'm not particularly skilled at blade sharpening. I wanted a serrated blade on my new folding knife for cutting through small branches and nuisance privot during yard visits. This sharpener works wonders at restoring and putting a razor edge on the small serrated blade edges of two sizes. Easy, quick and very effective. I definitely recommend this highly versatile sharpener for serrated blades and possibly other tools such as clippers and snips.

False image, but good tool.
Though the photo of the tool shows it looking like a green finished aluminum housing that the diamond rod unscrews from then force fits for use. Actually the housing is black ABS plastic and the diamond rod just sits in not very tightly, and you reverse it for use. I already owned a couple of these but when I saw the ad on Amazon I liked the idea of the aluminum housing and the threaded rod even better so I ordered three. You can imagine my disappointment getting three more of the plastic units. I find this ad grossly misleading but the units do a great job, I fillet a lot of fish and I'm able to keep my fillet knives as well as all my other knives super sharp.
