Repressing. Digitally remastered edition of this 1972 album from the Psych/Sunshine Pop outfit. Waterbeds in Trinidad was the last long-player cut by the original group and has an undeniable elegiac quality to it. They tackle John Stewart's 'Little Road And a Stone to Roll' and Goffin & King's 'Snow Queen' alongside the usual array of original compositions, mostly composed by returning prodigal son and founder member Jules Alexander. An overlooked jewel in The Association's crown, it's about time this album was recognized by a wider audience. Rev-Ola.

Hard to find this album on CD
Waterbeds in Trinidad is the last album made by the original members of The Association. There are some really excellent songs on this album! This album is really hard to find on CD, & when you do see them, the price is sky high. I was glad to find this - expensive for a CD, but a lot less costly than some other sources.

Lost Gem
Don't know why I missed this gem from the 70s. There is not not much innovation or new ground being covered here, even for the early 70s. But if you are a fan of this group, then you must own this collection of well done recordings by one of the most talented vocal groups to come out of the California music scene in the 1960s. I believe that this was their last studio album together, but all of the stunning vocal arrangements that set them apart, are still present in this work. I don't want to go into a lengthy review, so I'll just say that when I'm driving around in my truck, this CD makes me feel good. And that's well worth the price.

An unknown gem ....
To my knowledge, this is the last of the studio albums recorded during the heyday of the Association. Furthermore, there's not a lot of highly recognizable music on it which might cause people to rush out and buy it. The only recognized tune is John Sebastian's "Darling Be Home Soon". BUT - there's a ton of great harmonies and slickly produced songs pleasing to anyone how likes the Association. I really like the album for what it is - a nice representation of who the band was at the time. Again, excellent service on the part of the vendor makes this a good buy.

Waterbeds in Trinidad!
I purchased Waterbeds in Trinidad! CD to replace my old Lp. I like the music on this CD because it shows yet another side to the very versatile Association. Many people associate the group with top 40-type love ballads, but they are so much more. Some of my favorites from this collection are the very-much ahead of it's time "Kicking The Gong Around", Carole King's "Snow Queen", "Rainbow's Bent" and "Little Road And A Stone To Roll". If you're a fan of Jules Alexander's songwriting, this is the CD to get. The only downside to this CD was that I purchased the Japanese import, and I really miss the informative liner notes.

Great Package, Great Collection
If you can, get this particular edition of "Waterbeds in Trinidad". Besides the original 10-song collection, it features single edits of Darling Be Home Soon/Indian Wells Woman/Come the Fall/Kicking the Gong Around/Names Tags Numbers & Labels/Rainbows Bent. If you add this collection to the great "The Complete Warner Bros. & Valiant Singles Collection", then you have an incredible collection of singles from "One Too Many Mornings" all the way up through "Names Tags Numbers and Labels". i cannot recommend this collection enough ... run out and get it!

Finally Waterbeds in Trinidad makes it to CD! The Association goes out with a bang on their final release!
It is about time this lost gem makes it to CD. The Associations last album is a winner from start to finish. If you love the Association you will love this one! Revola gives this album the deluxe treatment. The CD includes an informative 16 page booklet that gives you insight in the making of the album. If you love the association I would suggest you pick up this one while it is on CD. I doubt you will ever see this lost classic make it to CD again.

an OK CD, not what I expected from The Association, seems after Russ left the vocals and direction of the group were not the same high quality as the early Association recordings.

Don't let the title put you off!
Regarding the actual product, yes.. arrived quickly and as described. For the content, I bought this as a replacement for the original vinyl version I had (and sold along with all my old records), so I knew what I was buying. A longtime Association fan - loved their early stuff - especially the Renaissance and Birthday LPs. ....not sure about the "stonehenge" album which I found a bit intense and slightly melancholic in content, but liked the country-flavoured, soft-rock, easy-listening material on this album which was in keeping with the early 70's trends in many band's sound. The last album on which all seven of the original line up are playing. Well produced, but no "stand-out" track for me, although the tender "Darling be home soon" recalls earlier work such as "Cherish". Has the usual mix (if that's not being too unkind!), of upbeat, slow ballads, and quirky songs that we have come to expect from an Association album, and will not disappoint, but may not be the one you reach for by default, either. After all this time, I'm still struggling to work out the connection between the title and the cover photograph!

it's good quality album
As a fan of the Association i have to say that this album presented the band in a rather 'nice, safe, entertaining' mode, far from their 1965-1968 heyday. it's good quality album, just very unadventurous music. 'Birthday', the band's 4th lp from 1968 was the Association's last truly excellent album (the UK Now Sounds label has issued expanded versions of the band's first five albums also a double cd of all the a and b sides from 1965 to 1972.
