I'm a novice in making fresh pasta, as I have only used this device on two occasions. It's EASY to use, FUN to make, and results are DELICIOUS to eat! There's nothing quite like fresh pasta which has a smoother consistency and better taste overall. I had no problem with the gear changes although it's difficult to see the white numbers on the shiny metal. Would be clearer in red or black numbers, but that's a minor issue. The brush is helpful in cleaning out any residue pasta. Turning it over and shaking it the next day after any pasta dried probably helped the most. The flat guide was a must in my opinion -- some of the machines don't offer this and it aids in use. This machine is FABULOUS!

Bought to use for cookie dough. It worked amazingly. For once all my cookies were the same thickness. Highly recommended!

I've used this for a couple of years now and not had any problems with it. Just make sure you wipe it off and DO NOT WASH IT, especially in the dishwasher. I usually wipe it down and make sure any dried out pasta is out of it before I put it into a gallon zip lock bag to store.

I have three sets of KitchenAid brand pasta rollers and all three of the pasta rollers are broken; and one of the linguini cutters is broken. I bought this last year and it works great and has yet to break! In fact, I just ordered another one (we make A LOT of pasta) since the price is almost half of what it was last year - which was still way way less than KitchenAid’s. I even have 2 KitchenAid mixers so I don’t have to swap out the roller and the cutter. The KitchenAid attachment has these delicate plastic parts that dry out and crack and cannot be repaired. It’s such a lousy design flaw or it’s purposeful so saps like me have to keep buying them. My KitchenAid branch food grinder also broke - the entire body is plastic and it has a crack where the metal bolt attaches to the machine. It’s completely worthless since there is no way to prevent something growing in there. My off brand grinder is metal, it also cost a fraction of the KitchenAidCrap, and it has yet to fail me. After decades of loyalty, I’m hoping off the KA brand junk train.

I ordered this item and the first one had problems with the knob. Then, I asked for a replacement and had the same problem.Finally gave up and asked for a refund.
