Such a cool gift for your furry best friends. You might be surprised!
Excellent purchase! We were told at the rescue shelter that we were adopting a black lab plott hound mix. The vet said she was a black lab Great Dane mix. Guess what? She’s none of those breeds! Turns out our pup is an American pitbull terrier, American Staffordshire terrier, and a Bluetick Coonhound mix. We also tested our older rescue dog. We were told she was a beagle terrier mix. She is an American pitbull terrier, Pomeranian, Australian cattle dog, and Boxer mix. I think it’s very cool to find out what breeds our dogs are and have an idea of possible healthy issues to look out for and personality traits. It’s helped with food choice and training. I highly recommend testing your dog. You might not have what you think you do.

Shocking but Fun
Honestly the Dog DNA was purchased for the fun of it. We rescued a puppy that was taken from deplorable conditions in Alabama. He was transported to our state up north. We didn’t know much about him other than that. Our vet thought he was an Alaskan Malamute mix with possibly some Shepard too. It was completely a guess from anyone who saw him. All I know is that he was such a cute fluffy teddy bear. We bought the Pet DNA test, sent in our sample which was so easy to do. It took one person holding his squirmy butt still and one person to swab his mouth. We got our results back in a couple of weeks and was also able to track the progress through the website. We were shocked to find out he is 69% great Pyrenees and 12% chow chow. No Shepard or alaskan malamute. That’s ok…he’s the best. I did wonder how accurate these tests are but now that he’s 9 months old I can tell he is mostly Great Pyrenees for sure! He’s a perfect fit to our funny farm! 🥰

Completely Inaccurate and Horrible Support
I ordered this originally because I adopted a cute Terrier mix 6 years ago and just wanted to see what breeds she is mixed with. From others who have seen my dog, they think she is mixed with Terrier, Yorkie, and possibly a bit of Dachshund. I came across this test and since it was from AncestryDNA, I thought it would be accurate. Well... I was competely wrong. After going through the test and sending it off, about a month later, I got the notification that the results were ready. The first display on the dashboard said my dog was half wolf, half Husky lol. I reached out to support by email, as there wasn't a customer support phone number, and that took a few days to get a response. They mentioned some generic email about their tests not being completely accurate and still in early stages, meaning they need more dog DNA to get more accuracy. But a follow up email mentioned the results had been updated. Well... it said my dog was 100% Dachshund. So I continued to reach out to support, thinking maybe the test I sent in was faulty or mixed up. I was hoping I could get a new test, but I was getting responses once a week, which was awful. They also never directly addressed the inaccuracies, circling around potential reasons it shows these results. Logging into the dashboard now, it seems the results have changed again to 62% Dachshund, 38% Chihuahua.TLDR: I would stay away from this test and try a test elsewhere or save your money. I've attached pictures of the current results (3rd time changing), and a photo of my dog for reference.

Very fun and worth the money!
My dog is 7 years old and the cutest dog ever. Ever since I got her, I've wondered what the heck she is. I adopted her at a pet store when she was a tiny puppy. She was in a cage with three cute little black lab puppies. But my Sandy girl was different, she looked like a little cowboy corgi or a husky mix. We thought maybe she's a corgsky. Or a husgi. Whatever trendy we're using these days. She was definitely not a lab like the others (even though that's what the adoption lady said). None of it mattered though because she's the BEST. DOG. EVER.And for 7 years, I've CONFIDENTLY told everyone she's a corgi mix. Everyone. (which is a lot of people, she gets a lot of attention because she's so perfect and cute.)I finally decided to pull the trigger on a dog DNA test during the Amazon Day sale to confirm and find out what she's mixed with. It took about 5 weeks to get the test back and I received a few emails giving me updates along the way. The excitement was building each week! Then we got the results.TURNS OUT SHE'S 54% WEENIE DOG. 15% FREAKING CHOW CHOW. 14% HUSKY. 9% DANISH SWEEDISH FARMDOG (didn't even know this breed existed). AND 8% AUSTRALIAN CATTLE DOG.THERE'S NO CORGI IN MY BABYDOG. SHE'S MOSTLY A WEINER DOG! I WAS SHOOK!This little test was so exciting and gave us all such a good laugh. We now know exactly what to tell people that she is and we've been able to research more about her, which is just more confirmation on what a good girl she is.If you have any curiosity about your dog's breed, I highly recommend going for it and doing the testing - and highly recommend Ancestry's Know Your Pet DNA. Very fun experience!

Definitely recommend for any pet own
The reason I’m saying I definitely recommend is is because we all wanna know what type of dog we have and I look like something but it might not be what you’re thinking. A.k.a. me I I thought I had adopted a Chihuahua ended up adopting a pitbull/bulldog/schnauzer. This kit was so easy to It was so fast to get her sample and she didn’t seem to mind it so I’d say she was comfortable taking her DNA test. Once we used it, it said to ship out either the next one to three days we shipped it out the next day. It comes with a prepaid mailing label. Once you mail it out, you don’t have to do Anything all you have to do is just wait for your results online. It was very straightforward. We were able to register it super fast and the waiting period for results took about a month for us vary from person person.
