Size:9' Round  |  Style Name:Felt + Rubber- 1/4" Thick Basics, 1/4 inch rug pads provide the ultimate support system for your Oriental, Persian, or area rug. Basics, 1/4 inch is 100% felt and rubber rug pad designed for keeping rugs anchored to the floor while providing comfort and cushioning under your rugs. We offer a signature jet black natural rubber backing, which combines a full 10oz/sq yd of rubber with a reinforced 5oz/sq yard rubber face to prevent fraying, flaking, and premature wear. Our signature jet black backing is combined with a 1/4'' (22 ounce) layer of felt to help support and cushion your area rugs. This dense fiber core helps prolong the life of your area rugs by reducing wear and tear from daily use. This added layer of felt protection also provides insulation, noise reduction, and acoustical benefits. Basics, 1/4 inch works well with all types of rugs, but especially with thinner flat woven rugs such as kilim, durries, and sumac rugs. Basics, 1/4 inch is manufactured with 100% felt & rubber and contains no glues or adhesives that can outgas, offering a more natural & nature friendly rug pad alternative to traditional plastic, vinyl, and pvc rug pads. Our felt is heat pressed to the rubber, not glued, for added durability. As the cost of rubber increases, manufacturers have been using more "clay fillers" in their rug pads to reduce costs. The more clay fillers are used, the faster the rubber backing will fall apart and crumble. The alternative to most felt and rubber rug pads is traditional open weave PVC padding. While more cost effective, these overseas pads can often outgas and may contain potentially toxic chemicals and plasticizers such as phthalates and formaldehyde. Both bad for the environment and bad for your floors, out-gassing from inferior padding can react with certain floor finishes to leave them permanently stained and discolored. Basics, 1/4 inch is manufactured in the USA using only 100% felt and rubber materials.

BEWARE - RUINS FLOORS
Funny that in the description this claims to protect your floors, when in reality it ruins them. We put these pads under all the rugs in our house not even a year ago, and after something was spilled on one recently, the black from the bottom of this rug pad has stained our hardwood floors. It’s far too late to return them obviously, so we are just stuck with lost money, throwing these pads away and getting new ones, and trying to sand down and re-stain our hardwood floors. I would never recommend this product to anyone.

Not even CLOSE to advertised 1/3”!
I ordered the supposedly 1/3” thick felt and rubber pad, expecting that there would be 1/3” felt plus a rubber backing. Because I was trying to increase plushness for comfort of people sitting or playing on the rug, but didn’t want it so high it was a tripping hazard, I thought the 1/3” would be ideal. Perhaps I received the wrong pad but I was rather disappointed that this pad was very skimpy on felt, which was closer to 1/8” thick. In no area was this pad even 1/4” thick, including the rubber backing, so I’d estimate the thickness to be closer to half the advertised thickness at about 1/6”! Please see photo. So much for “Ultra”! Ultra chintzy! It keeps the rug in place but doesn’t really add much plushness so the comfort level of the rug is not appreciably different than no pad at all. Thankfully the rug itself was a dense, high quality one, but this probably wouldn’t do much to make a thinner rug feel more luxurious. I’d return if it wasn’t such a hassle. Even though our rug was EXACTLY 8x10, the pad protruded a bit and we did have to trim it down about 2” on two sides, which wasn’t terribly difficult with very sharp shears, but the pad was not totally square. Overall, not what I hoped, but we will work with it. Probably should have ordered 1/2” to get what I needed but shouldn’t have to count on manufacturer not accurately advertising or sending a lesser product.

Excellent Customer Service, Great Product
I ordered a 6x9 rug pad. Shipping was delayed and after a week I received my rug pad. Except it was 6x6. I heaved a heavy sigh and immediately contacted Amazon customer support. Because this item is sold by a third party seller, Amazon could do nothing at that point except send an email to RUGPADUSA and alert them to the issue. RUGPADUSA had 2 business days to reply and rectify the situation before Amazon would take over.Again, I heaved another heavy sigh -- "here comes another headache of a customer service experience" I said. Boy was I wrong! RUGPADUSA contacted me **WITHIN THE HOUR** that I'd contacted Amazon. The process was so simple; they asked what I had received instead of the item I'd ordered, and within 5 hours had fixed the situation -- they were sending me the correct size rug pad at no additional cost and told me not to worry about sending back the wrong sized rug pad. I was very pleased with the speed of this correction, but was even more pleased when I received the shipping notification -- the shipping was faster than the original order. I got it a day and a half after initially contacting Amazon. So while they originally sent me the wrong item, I was over the moon happy with how RUGPADUSA handled the situation and corrected it.Now... My review about the rug pad....The rug pad does an excellent job of staying put. My dog runs and jumps on the rug and it doesn't budge much at all. Unweighted (i.e, when no one is standing on it), it has been easy enough for me to slide/move into different positions on the floor by myself. The rug pad provides lovely cushion between the rug and the hard floor. Is it a memory foam mattress pad cushion? No. But it is very comfortable and does give a nice underfoot cushion. It's just enough without adding any extra "height" that would cause me to trip as I walked onto it. I was concerned that it wouldn't be enough of a cushion, but I have been pleasantly surprised that it is! Very comfortable for my feet and my dog -- now that we've put hard floors throughout the house, the rug/rug pad is my dogs favorite place to lay down (other than his bed of course). This rug pad was recommended to me by a friend and I would recommend it to anyone who needs one!

The loft and firmness of this product met my expectations ...
The loft and firmness of this product met my expectations. The pad stays put on my hardwood floors, and holds my wool rug in place. It does not work well with an olefin rug, because the top of the pad is felted in a way that is too smooth and allows the rug to move. I do not wear shoes in my home and even walking barefoot on the rug makes it slip off the top of the rug pad.

Does NOT prevent slippage.
There are a lot of different complaints about these rug pads, many are completely idiotic, but that's par for the course for Amazon. I've personally found only one legitimate issue with these non-slip rug pads - they don't stop your rug from slipping ON top of the pad itself. I should have known with the sample pictures of $5 knit rugs on top of these pads. I'm sure it works for those. But for anyone that spent decent money on a quality area or runner that doesn't have a knit back to it - avoid this pad, it's not for you. While I appreciate the additional padding it provides, it does nothing to prevent the rug from still sliding around so now I'm on the lookout for some double-sided rug tape in hopes of stopping the continued slip-sliding away.

Best non-slip rug pad ever and comfortable for the knees!
Super high quality rug pad and even more amazing customer service!! My rug hasn't budged in weeks and the comfortable padding is very knee friendly! I purposely ordered the 7x9 pad for my 7.5x9.5 rug so it doesn't stick out and I didn't need to cut it at all. I can't express how much better my rug feels! The edges are unbearable to kneel on so I intentionally go onto the padded part itself. I originally ordered the non-slip ultra black in 1/3" thickness and received the standard 1/4" thickness. I messaged and instantly received a partial refund. Even though I didn't receive the thicker rug pad, I'm still incredibly happy with my purchase.

Feels like the rug is glued down
Totally works, rug doesn't move at all even with nothing on it. Feels like the rug is glued down. I purchased the 1/4 inch as I was worried anything higher would be a trip hazard. Its plenty soft even with a very thin rug. I suppose if you want extremely soft you could pay the extra for 1/3 inch.Rug is expensive but again it doesn't move and is very well made vs the cheese cloth style pads.

Thickness provides a great cushion.
Rug pad is a great cushion under the area rug and it stays in place.
