Don't waste your money
Don't waste your money on these "Emergency Personal Alarm" gadgets. The "siren song" they advertise wouldn't raise a head in a busy parking lot ... it's not as loud as most car-finder/safety alarms found on car keys. Further, the directions are lacking and not intuitive. The rip cord they talk about is the strap that pulls out (ok, not too bad), but in looking at the device one would think it turns off by pushing one of those button looking things on the front. Not so. The pin must be inserted back from whence the rip cord came. The little button is for a tiny flashlight and the other larger round looking button does nothing. They mention removing plastic from the battery ... turned out to be just one of those pull things that are common to this type of product.

I would recommend this
I purchased this item for my two college age daughters, to give them (and myself) a stronger sense of security for walking in dark parking lots or jogging. I also have a son that is 9 and he is at the age that I have to allow him to go to go to a public restroom alone. I will give him the device to pull the alarm if he feels that he is being approached inappropriately. The device is quite loud and will certainly draw attention if the occasion arises that they actually have to use it. I would recommend this device

Great personal alarm.
I’ve never had to use these (thankfully) so it’s hard to rate the effectiveness of the product. However, I have tested them with a friend who said she could hear it from inside her home while I was outside on the street! They are ear piercing loud and would likely alert someone within a significant distance if you were to trigger it! I have one in my car, one by my front door and one in my sons backpack! The flash light is decent. More like a purse light. Bright white but not light enough to actively use as a regular flashlight.

These are great! I ordered a 3 pack so I have one on the outside of my purse, one in my car and one in my RV too. They will DEFINITELY catch someone's attention if your ever in need! Great buy too. 😁

Expected to be louder.
Thankfully have not needed to use it but have it attached to my keys. Only voted a 4 as I expected it to be louder. I feel like in major traffic areas like metro type areas it wouldn't be loud enough.
