Perfect for littles
Ordered this for my little girl for Xmas.4 little hardback books with quite thick pages making it easier to littles to turn pages.Short and sweet sentences great for little toddlers. A good way to introduce littles to important figures throughout history.

A nice introduction to female icons, not the most popular books on the shelf
The media could not be loaded. We received these books for my unborn daughter at my baby shower. Almost two years on, and I can say that they have sadly not been the most popular books on her shelf. I would say she has had more fun slotting them in and out of the box than reading them.As an adult and someone who is keen to teach my daughter about strong women so that she can hopefully become one, I can certainly see the appeal in these books. The designs are beautiful, the colours are bold, the board books are very sturdy for little hands and there are a good range of prominent/impressive female figures recorded across the four books (though Hilary Clinton could be seen as a controversial inclusion for some). Ten points for exposure. But for young ones, I feel the appeal ends there. There really is no story to be found - the books read like a list of different women with associated platitudes. Motivational reading for toddlers? I don’t think so. Sure, it could spark some further discussion about the women and feminist values with older children, but older children are likely to be bored by the more basic content - more mature books - i.e. the ‘little people, big dreams’ series would probably be more appropriate in these circumstances.Am I disappointed to own these books? Certainly not. I just don’t think they’ve been as impactful/enjoyed as I would have hoped. But hey, they certainly can’t hurt - and maybe, just maybe, early introduction and exposure might form some healthy feminist foundations anyway.
