A double bill of films detailing the life of musical comedienne Fanny Brice. In 'Funny Girl', Fanny (Barbra Streisand) is an aspiring star living in New York in the early 1900s. She has the chance to realize her ambition when she meets playboy Nick Arnstein (Omar Sharif), who introduces her to Florenz Ziegfeld (Walter Pidgeon). When Ziegfeld puts Fanny in his Follies, she becomes an instant hit. However, marriage to Nick is not a bed of roses. In the sequel, 'Funny Lady', it is the 1930s, and Fanny is now over Nick. She is due to wed impresario Billy Rose (James Caan), but the union proves to be a tempestuous one. Although Billy provides Fanny with several hit songs, she soon tires of his womanising. Note:Please note that Funny Girl contains a music introduction and intermission. During these sequences the screen will be blank. This content is true to the original theatrical version

Barbra Streisand: From stage to screen
I thought I'd wait and do this review on Barbra's Birthday (April 24th).Barbra had been doing the stage version of "Funny Girl" for a number of years, based on the story of real life entertainer Fanny Brice, so she was completely immersed in the part when they wanted to make a film version. The songs are fantastic, mixing humour with heart wrenching and inspiring numbers. Every one of them faultlessly performed by this great lady.It was a number of years before the sequel "Funny Lady" was made, but she still gives such warmth and vitality to every song. For the lady who said she's an actress who sings, both of these films showcase her great talent for both genres. Absolutely superb must sees.Happy Birthday Barbra!.

A good double
This double dvd is certainly a good one for fans of Barbra Streisand. The quality is good and of course the acting is first class. "Funny Girl" is one of her best movies, showing not only her great singing talent but also her range as an actress from comedy to drama. I must admit that I found "Funny Lady" a disappointing sequel. The story is weaker and (i think) somewhat disjointed. The songs are nowhere as memorable as those in "Funny Girl". That said, this double dvd is cerainly a worthwhile and entertaining purchase.

Nostalgia!
I absolutely love these films. Watch this as a child/teenager and never forgotten it. Only the first part was on Sky and I looked for the other but not on any of he other TV channels or netflix. So I bought them. I can watch them whenever I want now!🤗😘😍.

Nostalgic and nice
I first saw Funny Girl in the 60's and loved it. It was just as good the second time around. I had a couple of male relatives staying with me who hadn't seen either film previously and thought they might think it too 'girly'.Wrong. They also enjoyed. It is simple, has a feel good factor and of course, Barbra Streisand. What a voice. Also the gorgeous Omar Shariff. Funny Lady wasn't quite to the same standard as Funny Girl, but still worth a watch. A nice trip down memory lane for all Streisand fans and all for a fiver.
