Very good book

Good overview, well illustrated with photos, helpful description. Perfect size - enough to whet your appetite for more in-depth study or - heaven forbid! - buying the gorgeous things. Thank you for putting in the time to produce this useful-beautiful book.

A beautifully produced book. I found all the information i was looking for. The book is also full of colour photographs of Kilim's.

This handsome book is lavishly illustrated and has a very useful glossary (though a clarification of the word "Pirot" would have been useful - it presumably refers to kilims from Pirot in Serbia). However, it is not a complete guide, since apart from a short section on Bulgaria, it completely ignores the Balkans, which were for centuries part of the Ottoman Empire and developed their own rich tradition of kilim weaving, as here in Bosnia where I live. There is not a single reference to this in the book.

...aber wer wirklich einen "complete guide" sucht, kommt leider an dem nur noch antiquarisch und teuer verfügbaren Klassiker "Der Kelim. Ein Handbuch" von Petsopoulos nicht vorbei - kostet allerdings auch mindestens das 4 fache...Dieses Buch ist gut Geschrieben und hübsch gemacht, um aber Sammlerstücke wirklich einschätzen zu können ist die Information nicht detailliert und systematisch genug. Für einen Überblick und um Lust auf mehr zu machen allerdings ein sehr gutes Buch, gerade die Einleitungskapitel und Informationen zu Kultur und Techniken sind sehr gut geschrieben. Nur für ein wirkliches Nachschlagewerk fehlt es dann etwas an Tiefe. Trotzdem eine unbedingte Empfehlung für Neulinge in der Materie...

キリムにはまだそんなに詳しくないのですが、日本語の書籍も少ないためいきなりこの本を買いました。結果、視野が広がってよりキリムに興味がわきました。特にコーカサス地方のラグの素晴らしさはこの本ではじめて知りました。日本のインターネットストアなどではイランやトルコのラグが主力なのですが欧米の同様のサイトではコーカサス地方のラグがトップにきていることも多くそれだけ人気もあります。そんなこともこの本を読まなかったら知らなかったかもしれません。貴重な美しいラグの写真も多く、系統立てて紹介されているためその地域のおおよその特徴もわかります。英語の本ですが、かなり分かりやすい文章だと思いますし、得難い情報が多く載っているため読む価値もあると思います。

カラーページがいっぱいで、それぞれのキリムの詳細まであり、英語のわからない私にも楽しめました。しかも、モロッコのキリムまで紹介してあります。もちろん基本的なキリムの知識もあります。この辺は、LIVING WITH KILIMSより詳しいようです。LIVING WITH KILIMSがキリムの楽しみ方(飾り方、使い方）の本で、こちらは、キリムを掘り下げた入門書と言った感じです。巻末にカーペット以外のキリム、ニューキリムの紹介、コレクション品まで網羅してあります。キリム好きにはこの２冊は楽しめると思います。
