This is the best food for ground-feeding birds that I have ever used, and I have tried a lot of different brands. Although it is dove food it has smaller seeds that even the smallest birds can eat. This has brought 3 types of dove as well as many other birds (juncos, chicadees, thrush, etc.). I even had a rare albino Lazuli Bunting show up. After eating this food for a few weeks the little bird gained his color back. According to our rare bird expert, a bird can be an albino if they don't have the right diet. This food gave it the right diet. There is never any shells or skins mess since every seed is eaten daily.Update 3/26/2021: I have received 3 bags in a row that have a hole in the bag and seed is everywhere. The people packing this lay the full 25lb bag in the bottom of a larger box and ship. Today the paper tape was broken so much of the seed had been dumped.Update 2/22/22 I haven't received any broken bags for a long time so I am updating my review back to 5 stars.

I've used a lot of dove food through the years, and I have to say I like this one best.Anyone that owns doves or pigeons know they are ground feeders, and they constantly knock over their food! I've tried about every kind of feeder, and ultimately ended up zip typing a dish to the cage to prevent knock over, but they can go through food FAST!I'm so happy to see Amazon sells seed in bulk like this, and it's so much cheaper than buying in 5lb bags, whether at the best store or amazon.It's a good quality too, it has all the good stuff and my birds love that. Some of the cheaper brands, I've found everything from bugs to twigs in it, sunflower shells, all kinds of stuff. This brand has always been clean and exactly what the birds need. I add a little vitamin to it when they are laying eggs, but it's a great seed!

the 25lb bag is a 5 gallon bucket worth of seed that is not in the normal blue bag with graphics. It is vacuum sealed / all the oxygen sucked out. I originally bought this in a smaller bag for a bird of the pigeon family that we rescued as a baby from a cat. I chose this because of the list of ingredients and the good reviews from others and we used this to ween him off of formula. When starting he would only eat the small millet pieces. As he grew he came to like the larger red milo. He now eats most everything but the safflower. Hes back in the wild with a group of his kind but visits regularly. I was hoarding the end of my last back just for him, and using other seed on the ground of other birds and the squirrels. I'm glad to find the larger bag as everyone likes it, and it is nice clean seed. I drop this and some meal worms on my driveway and well...I pretty much have the entire neighborhood visiting. I have finches, blue jays, cardinals, squirrels, and an occasional woodpecker that stops by. I picked up a 5 gallon bucket and a screw on lid to store it. This larger bag has some dust when I was pouring it that smelled like citric acid. I don't remember any dust at all with the smaller bag. I never poured it though. I took of 1 star for this.

My rescue pigeon had a fracture in her leg when I found her. It healed, but every time she laid an egg, she couldn't walk for days. I used to have to treat her with an anti-inflammatory, but then I found this food. Since feeding her Hagen's, she has not once lost mobility after egg-laying. This food gives her everything she needs and sufficient calcium to remain mobile every day. I could not be happier with this feed. I highly recommend it! My pigeons and dove love it and they are healthy as can be. Hagen's pigeon and dove staple is definitely a staple in our home.

It has the pleasant and sweet aroma of a new harvest.This is superior bird food. Your birds will love you for feeding them Hagen. They may even think that you've graduated from an avian culinary arts school after you serve them up some healthy and scrumptious Hagen Pigeon and Dove Mix. Chirp chirp coo coo!!
