Fast and saved my noggin
This helmet was great for slicing through the wind at the Memorial Herman 1/2 this year, and was doing a great job of it at the Kemah Sprint. The fit is great, the visor helps as I don't have to worry about my sunglasses in transition and it cools nicely. what I like most about this helmet, is that during the Kemah tri, I got into a accident and went over the aero bars doing about 25MPH and the first thing to make contact with the road was the side of my helmet. No headache, no concussion, no dizziness, no nothing from the impact. Best 150.00 I could have ever spent.

Life saver - literally
Sitting here the day after a car hit me while training for the Atlantic City Triathlon. The car pitched me over and I landed on my head. Put a 3" crack through the helmet and face shield. This was my first Tri Helmet and when I got it I couldn't believe how light it was and even found myself thinking, "Boy I hope I don't ever get into a wreck with this thing because there is not much to it." Was I wrong. This helmet literally saved my life. I am 6' 185 lbs and my full body weight landed on my upper left forehead/head right into pavement. This helmet took all of that force and distributed it around my head. The whole top is caved in and cracked. The inner foam lining cracked and shifted. The face shield cracked as it hit the pavement. I ended up with no road rash on my face, ear or head and was fully protected. I suffered neck and spine trauma but the helmet did way better than I thought it could. Will be buying another one through Bell and their crash replacement program. Thanks Bell for putting out a superior product.

Light, good vents, removable eye shield
Just did a 75 mile training ride (test ride for 1/2 IM) on mid summer day in Houston Texas (94 degs) and it was warm in the helmet but not blazing hot. The vents provide a lot of breeze. If you need more, remove the eye shield and you get a lot more breeze. This helmet is super light and have read from other reviews it has protected them in crashes going 25+ mph. This helmet came with a cool bag with a strap to throw over your shoulder when going to your transition area to set-up prior to the race or for storing.Con: Not much padding for the top of my head and will have to install some better ones.I wore this on my Olympic tri a week ago and it was awesome. The tail on the back side is not super long and it doesn't hit your back in your tuck. I love this helmet.

Almost perfect - just too hot
So I would give it 5 stars but I have to give 4 on ventilation. So far I have rode on 60 degree days or cooler and literally sweat so much the glasses get smudged from inside with sweat. Luckily I am doing shorter TT and triathlons and it doesnt bother me too much but cant imagine what a 90 degree day will do to me. So as far as speed and aero. 5 stars! you wont beat the cost to speed increase. CHEAP SPEED. I will say its way less than my carbon wheels and same increase in speed and performance. If you dont have a helmet buy one before you get wheels for sure.

Great helmet for the price
Great helmet for the price, it helped me get 1st on a Strava segment I had been working on for weeks. t apparently does make a difference over a regular helmet, especially downhill. I got this helmet for the venting, but you need to be sure to keep your hair at a pretty manageable (short) length or it will block a lot of the airflow over your head. Probably goes the same for a regular helmet, but I noticed it more after switching to this TT helmet, because it is a bit warmer. (and I'm probably working a bit harder to live up to the look as well :)

I like it
I have to say, i was delightfully surprised with the fit of this helmet. It has a nice ratchet system in the back and you can adjust the tilt fore/aft so that it follows the contours of your back when in the aero position. It also uses what looks to be the exact light weight webbing/buckle system as my Giro Prolight. The visor is nice and optically clear and it lets just enough air to circulate to keep your face cool. Daft looking funny bike helmet. If we have to wear these things then why not get a bonkers looking one!
A friend of mine has been using a standard black Bell Javelin for a few years and I thought I'd get something similar. However I wanted something a bit more bonkers than a standard colour and unfortunately my LBS in the UK couldn't get this Stars and Stripes version. So I came to Amazon (US) instead. 3 weeks later I had my vibrant looking Javelin.I've used it on a few training rides and on a recent 20 mile TT event and it is really, really good. It is super comfortable and pleasantly warm in the current winter temperatures. I suspect as the weather gets warmer this helmet might get a bit sweaty but hey thats the nature of sports isn't it.My only negative is the final quality of the helmet. The ear plates are a slightly different silver to the main helmet and the paint is chipped along the join. I intend to put some big 'Bell' stickers over these joins so it doesn't bother me that much.In summary this is a great first timers TT helmet and looks excellent with its zany stars and stripes. It certainly stands out in dreary UK weather. :D
