The Heart of the Soul: Emotional Awareness (A Spiritual Growth Self-Help Guide)

I wasn't ready for this book the first couple times I looked at it. It didn't "speak" to me. It seemed ponderous. I know now that I just wasn't ready to absorb its teachings. These things take time. I'm now re-reading it for the second time this year - and I'm awed by its profundity. I'm finally ready to begin getting in touch with the feelings that cause me to procrastinate and zone out on mindless tv. This book deals with very subtle and deep stuff - not your everyday self-help book. If you've already done the hard work of becoming a genuinely happy, open, and self-aware person, but still sense there's more to work on (LOL - there always is) - a couple small rough edges to smooth over - this is the book for you. I'm a 67 year old year lawyer (thoughts, not feelings rule) and practicing Buddhist in the tradition of Thich Nhat Hahn. This book is very compatible with Thay's dharma teachings. (Same message, different messenger.) If you buy it and are disappointed . . . WAIT. Put it on your bookshelf. It will call out to you when you're ready for it.

This book has literally shifted the consciousness that resides within my heart!! I have been on a wonderful yet enduring journey of self healing for about 3 years now and reading this book has elevated my human experience. I had put off reading it at times, but the universe allowed me to read the right chapters at the right times when I felt ready! This composition of art brings forth a new awareness of the human experience within the condition of the heart in every moment. It has just a variety of topics and experiences that we all share in some form or another. Gary Zukav has become a savior in my healing process.

The book arrived on time in the condition stayed in the ad. I use the book for inspiration and self motivation. No better to get that from than Gary Zukav and his spiritual partner Linda.

I must say I don't understand the other negative reviews. I found this book to be absolutely wonderful. Gary and Linda tackle the seeds of addictive behaviors, be it food, alcohol, drugs or sex. They also tackle issues such as perfectionism and work-aholism as well as others. I love the gentleness with which this book presents itself. It is not a book that you quickly read through and/or skim along. You need to read a section and actually think about what is stated to receive the full and rich benefits. Yes, it is written in a simple language and does repeat certain concepts; however, the concept is written to further stress that we need to look inward rather than be constantly reactive to our outside stressors. It offers yet another way of looking at our emotions by focusing on the energy of them and where that energy is released in our bodies. It also offers more seeds of self reflection. I loved this book and will recommend it to others whole-heartedly.

This book really opened my mind to understanding my emotions and the purpose of them. Awesome, awesome read! I am going to keep rereading this book as each chapter was life changing and I want to make sure that I really get this information down. I highly recommend this book to anyone especially those that are struggling with understanding their emotions as I did.

This is an incredible book for anyone who is searching for answers to living a balanced life of emotional well-being. Why we (and others) do the things we do, why we feel the way we feel and understanding the roots of where our emotions may be planted. This not only enlightened my own mind, but helped me understand more clearly the behaviors of those around me - including my spouse - which has allowed me to have much more compassion, therefore greatly improving relationships I had been struggling in. A very empowering book.

I have read Seat of the Soul and this book seems like the right next step to take. Seat of the soul has been life changing for me and I am hoping to have similar feelings with this one. Thank you for the amazing book at such an affordable price and in a mint condition.
