I usually love cork boards but these just are not very good quality. Ive used these for about a year now an i need to replace them where if you buy quality cork boards like willam and sonomas they last a life time. I have a messy eater in the house and it appears that the oils of food easily seep into the graphic. This leaves oil stains on them making them permanently appear dirty even if you wash them. The slight dark spots are oil spots. They blend a bit into the design, but if you are looking at it in person its pretty noticeable

I like the cork back placemats, more than fabric ones. I like the larger size, our other sets of cork placemats are smaller. These placemats are not as thick as my old ones. They are not as nice, some of them are dull, while other are shiny. I did keep them, I ordered 12, to go with some dishes that are hard to match.

The Color and protection was exactly as described… wonderful to use on the cheap counter tops in my house… someday I may be able to replace them but right now this is a good alternative.
