Change is good
The Kelty Siro is one of my favourite go-to packs. Its not too popular in the backpacking world only because people don't like change. The shark mouth opening is a real big change which i feel is an absolute winner. I love that i can get to anything in my pack quickly and easily. Zipping it open and closed is just SO easy no matter how overstuffed the pack becomes.Having the water bladder stored on the outside of my pack against my back makes it that much easier to refill. It offers an added bonus of cooling the back when the water is cold. Since the bladder stows safely away from my gear, i don't have to make sure the outside of it is free of water drops. I can put it on the pack when it is dripping wet from filling it. I do not buy into the current trend of ditching the bladder in favour of refillable bottles but the two side pockets are perfectly angled and sized for two bottles. The reverse angle of the pull straps means easy tightening and loosening of the hip belt with a minimum amount of energy required to do it. I love that. All good backpacks are meant to place the weight on the hips. The Siro does this in an amazing and comfortable way no matter how heavy the load , (26 pounds) i never feel constricted or encumbered. But if i choose to carry some of the weight on my upper body, i can do that as well with just a pull of a strap or two.The tight streamlined design of the siro is great for heavy weather conditions because there are fewer nooks and crannies for weather to land on and collect. The zippers are all placed in such a way that they are also protected from the weather. When the pack is empty i can tighten it very small. It cinches well. The straps, loops and buckles offer easy customisation for outside gear attachment. There is fantastic airflow between the back and the pack. The only BAD thing about this pack is that the mesh pockets loose their tension when the pack is unzipped so small items stored in the mesh could fall out on the ground.Who ever designed this pack is one heck of a smart and efficient person. It is sad that so many hikers never took a liking to it. I love this pack SO much, i am considering buying some extras against the day this aging pack design is no longer available..

99% perfect
So I think I might have been one of the first to buy and use this new pack from Kelty so I figured a review would help. This is a great pack with 2 minor flaws. I recently completed (2) long 14 and 20 mile hikes over challenging terrain (Presidential Traverse). I carried about 23lbs with water and food. The pack did this perfectly. The harness and adjust-ability were as good as any of my other Gregory packs, only this one is much lighter. The real game changer with this Kelty is the "shark mouth opening" and full front zip. In the White's we have ever changing weather requiring shedding clothes and full rain gear all weekend. The Kelty made this a breeze. My 2 buddies struggled digging into packs and at times, choose not to reach for something (clothes, a Coke, etc) due to the challenge of digging things out. The Kelty allows for a very easy, full opening making gear swaps the simplest I have ever had in 20+ years of backpacking. I really can't say enough good things about this pack.2 flaws - The tiny strap that is intended to hold your hydration bag is too small. Like way too small. Luckily a Camelbak has a large built in flange that basically hangs on the internal sleeve and held it fine. If I had to rely on the little piece of velcro, it would have been a mess. There are 2 additional hooks, but these do not work with the Camelbak bag. At least not without modifying it.The way the pockets/hipbelt/bottom of the bag all form a kind of single piece of gear make it very difficult to keep a rain cover on the pack. There just isn't any nook/crease on the bottom for the cover to bite into. Hopefully this makes sense. An included raincover with some velcro or tabs or something from Kelty would be nice. My cover is not <unfortunately> somewhere on the bottom of Mt Washington. A 60+ mph wind took it away like a kids balloon. That's it. Great pack, great pricing here on Amazon. Very happy I took a leap and tried this brand new pack from Kelty.

Red Cloud 6650
I have been backpacking for years. Not as much recently due to getting older and children. My old pack started to tear apart and I loved it so I was not happy to buy a new one. I shopped around quite a bit and settled on the Red Cloud 6650. This pack is huge. I'm 5'9" and 160lb. I had to adjust the shoulder straps to their smallest setting to fit correctly but it fit well. I just returned from a 13 mile pack trip over two days (9,000' to 13,000'). More than enough room in this pack. I used the detachable lid to summit a peak one day and it worked well. It's so large I had to strap it up over my shoulder rather than around my waist because I stuffed it with too much gear and had my water bottle hanging off it. The only complaint about the detachable lid was the time it took to reattach it, however, it saved me throwing in another day pack to hike a summit. Lots of storage and large outside pockets. I strapped on a large 4 person tent and sleeping pad underneath the pack with the straps. I had about 55lbs of gear in this and it handled it well. I would buy this pack again without hesitation. Very pleased with it. I know I packed a lot of weight on this trip but I have no significant sore spots where the pack was riding for 2 days and 13 miles. I had room to spare.

Super Comfortable for this 62 year old backpacker.
Just returned from a trip in RMNP where I had this attached to me for 5.7 miles to 11,000 ft. Packed weight was 47 pounds for 3 nights and 4 days. Did this a week after a fall where I nearly broke my back and against doctors orders. Endured the pain and had a fantastic time. This pack with it's ability to ride high and tight actually served to stabilize my back and made it possible for me to make the trip. Don't go smaller, 65 is perfect. I have the 55 as well and that is too restrictive for 4 days and 3 nights in the backcountry.

Great baggage backpack for backpackers for backpacking trips in backcountry...
I will update in February,2018 if there are any issues as I'll be coming back from a long backpacking trip in Asia. So far it's has been the most comfortable bag I've ever owned. It's simply great and seem to be more durable than the bags I had previously(we'll see). Many compartments for those dirty socks and stinky underpants...The daypack is a great addition and one of the reasons I went with this bag and not another brand I considered. It's always nice to have an option to detach the day pack and go. You can also use it as a hat...Negatives: Wish it came with a bag. I purchased one on Ebay for $3,but a $200 backpack should've included it. Lots of $80 backpacks do so cost savings at that range is weird by mr Kelty.***No coyotes were harm while reviewing this Coyote backpack***

Tough Stuff!
Took this bag with me on a 58km hike in Algonquin. Took care of the job! I like Kelty products for their robustness. I found by the end of the trip the hood didn't cinch down tight because the pack was emptier but other than that it was a great purchase for the price.

Very nice hiking backpack.
Very spacious and clever bag. Well built, the lid that comes off and turns into a day pack is very neat. The suspension took a little time to get use to tuning, but once you figure it out it’s truly unique. The only complaint would be that the shoulder straps are sewn close together. Fits me perfectly because I’m 5’6 150Lbs. But would not work for someone who has very broad shoulders.
