Manufacturing defect
Read amazon reviews on this item not charging, bought one for my auto vox tw1 and it doesn’t charge, waste of money. Tried to contact the seller through amazon even that doesn’t work, don’t waste you money this item has a design defect the solar panel has a very dark dull lens protection, which will not allow sunlight to penetrate and charge, the other design defect is its not tilt able to face the sun.if you buy one and it doesn’t charge write a review so that the seller and manufacturer listens

Product design three stars but customer service deserve five
The wireless reversing camera to monitor, plus solar panel charging, was much cheaper than paying for the installation of the Freelander wired alternative.Outstanding customer service was provided to resolve issues linked to design problems. Our original purchases were replaced by Autovox. They could not be fitted on our Freelander without obscuring a UK number plate.Very disappointed that after about a year of reliable service the camera failed and could not be recharged. The system had been coping with modest everyday use. Reversing practice to prepare for a driving assessment resulted in this failure.Even more upset to find that the existing solar panel could not be connected to charge the battery of the new camera - the usb plug was different! The original solar panel adhering to the bodywork could not be removed easily. The cable has been cut off but the panel remains in situ.It was extremely difficult to remove the rusted security screw so as to be able to remove the old camera. Some of the manufacturer's manuals state an equipped screwdriver is provided but that is not so in our case. The new solar panel seemed to be an improvement in that a bracket was provided to fit it over the camera unit instead of directly to the car body. Unfortunately the screws provided to do this are tiny and need watchmakers tools and excellent eyesight to complete the attachment.

How it works
Purchased and installed the solar bar. At first it worked great but I expected to see better performance with having the solar bar fitted. For some reason the bar does not charge unless there is full sun. So have to take off the camera and charge in-house. Problem with that is the screw supplied becomes rusty and you cannot get them off. A lot of prigging about would be better with stainless. So not really taken with the solar bar. Camera is good and monitor good also.
