What a box of tricks!
I am an experienced photographer with semi-pro gear which weighs a ton. I wanted to try mirrorless to reduce the weight and bulk I have to cart around and so was tempted by this little Lumix bridge camera. I am still deliberating over switching to M4/3 but have to give and honest review of the FZ82 based on a couple of months of use. First, it is sharp. Have no worries about the autofocus, this little beauty will not let you down. I've used it in bright sunlight, dim interiors, action shots and long exposure landscapes all without a problem. Second, although the sensor is tiny you would not know from the images it produces. I worried that the prints would be noisy but running them through Dfine2 sorts that out and A4 prints are as good as my Canons. Thirdly, it takes a bit of getting used to the aperture. It is f2.8 at the wide end but doesn't go past f8, so if you want a small aperture like f22 you can't get it. However, the zoom is incredible so that makes up for this deficiency in some ways. I thought the lack of a tilting articulated screen would be a problem but you can work around that by using the app on a smartphone. I have figured out a way of putting the camera on a small tripod and connecting via wi-fine so I control the camera from my phone - brilliant! I've been able to get some really effective shots this way, especially when I realised there was a screw thread on the lens that allows me to use a square filter system. Add to this the 4K video with post focus, focus stacking and features like zebra pattern, focus peaking superb touch screen and logical menus and you can't fail to be impressed, particularly at this price. In all I have been amazed at just how capable the FZ82 is and based on the experience I'll probably go for a bigger M4/3 Lumix as my main camera.

Brilliant all round Camera.
After many hours of research for a new camera I decided on this one.I like taking photographs and try to take nice ones but saying that, I'm very lazy and can't be bothered too much to mess about with settings so I need a camera that can do everything to a reasonably good standard on Automatic with the abilitly to occasionally go into deeper refined settings and the FZ82 does not disappoint. actually it exceeds my expectations. I like taking landscapes, flora and fauna the kids. I'm self employed and need to take good pictures of the items I make and sell online and for the relevant social media. The wifi connectablilty is easy and works perfectly with my phone. The zoom is great. the optical 1200mm is amazingly clear and then you can go even further with the digital zoom which is quite good however your better off sticking to the optical and then cropping and enlarging as that is better quality. The image stabilising is great very steady. The very best thing of course is that you have so many more picture opportunitys available that you would never get without having a shed load of gear. and then by the time you've set it up you,ve probably missed the photo.Picture quality is excellent It produces very sharp images and colour reproduction is incredibly accurate. The only minor negative Ive noticed is the Bokeh (the out of focus background areas) is not as nice nor easy to achieve but I haven't really explored the manual settings as yet which may yield better resultsIts not too big and very light and feels comfortable to hold. The electronic viewfinder works well and I have glasses which I've found to be problematic in the past. Its very quick to fire up.The touch screen is handy too.In summary If you want a camera that ticks all the boxes then this is it.

This product is honest...
This product is very honest. What do I mean by that? Well, in no way does it try to hide the fact that it is a little bulky. Nor does it try and distract you from the fact that you will occasionally have to delve into the somewhat lengthy, murky depths of its intricate menus. But, it does ease the way. It may be bulky, but it's a dream to hold. It's bulk provides a satisfactory weight to execution level, making steady hand held shots easier to preform accurately. As an example, pick a moonlit night. Point the camera, hand held at the moon, on full zoom and take a picture. If you're not knocked out by the result then you're a very hard person to please. Many of this cameras stunning attributes are either already attributed to one touch button operation or can be assigned accordingly to four flexible function buttons, lessening the need to get into the many menus and other amazing features this product offers. If, however you have the time and the patience to learn some of these features then I believe that, like myself, you will not be disappointed. I love it!

Great but not quite as good an upgrade from the FZ72 as I'd hoped.
HHhhmmmmm.... better in some ways than the FZ72, disappointed in the removal of some of the menu options from the older model.LOVE:Superbly fast autofocus4k photo feature - makes getting those "action" shots incredibly easy!Better sensor - more detailed captures"target" focus tracking - absolutely superb for capturing moving subjectsMASSIVE zoom capabilities - even better than beforeFocus stacking & post focus - brilliant!LIKE:Ability to transfer pics by WiFiBattery lifeTouch screenFocus area shiftDISLIKE:Unreliable app - freezes too often!Lack of Panasonic app for Windows phoneOnly being able to charge the battery while the camera is switched off.Viewfinder drains the battery faster than using the screenHATE:Having to reset everything each time I turn the camera on!!!!!Panasonic's RAW format :/
