Comparison between Vox and Donner
So I'm going to write a review on this Donner practice amp for bass. I gave it a 5 star rating for the value for money simply because I didn't want to spend $40+ on the Vox version. Volume control works well which I gave 5 stars to. The fact that its a rechargeable unit is a plus. It beats having to buy AAA batteries every month or two. Which I will address later. The volume on this is impressive as well as the drive. I haven't tried over the ear headphones as i always use in ear headphones. However, compared to the Vox version, the tone is not at all impress with me. With the Vox version you can actually hear a big difference between what I call warm and fuzzy to trebly. The Donner tone control doesn't really give that warm fuzzy tone as there are still quite a bit of highs still present. It seems as if it goes from mid/treble to high/treble. Lows aren't really there. as far as the Donner unit is concerne. all my tone needs to be adjusted fromthe bass which I'm sure many will agree that that is all you need. But compared to the Vox, I get a more punchier, Jacoish type of sound from my strings.(If that makes sense) The Donner unit gets 4 stars because for the price, I got what I paid for, a small practice unit with a considerable amount of volume with hardly any tonal spectrum as opposed to the Vox. I do like it so far. let's see how longs the battery lasts me on a single charge throughout the week that I use it. The Donner feels solid unlike the Vox. The 1/8' jack feels sturdier on the Donner as opposed to the Vox, which I have already had to buy two so far because of the constant use when I take it on the road and practice. The Vox's 1/8' jack soldering starts to come lose within a year. I'm not bashing Vox. I really do like they tonal qualities as well as having a drum maching built in. However, durability is an issue with the Vox unit. I know I've barely started playing the Donner so I will come back and write an update on how its been fareing along the way. I hope this helps.

Buzzing and distorts when turned up.
Purchased this personal amp and thought that I could use it however it wasn't very loud in addition at full volume it buzzed very loud. I tried 2 different bass guitars(both 5 string) and 3 different headphones and got the same results. Saw some good reviews but i was very disappointed. I don't recommend this for Bass Guitar. It maybe OK for electric guitar. Returning.

it works but the sound is mid
the amp itself works finely and not having to pay for batteries and just be able to charge is is definitely a plusHowever the sound is pretty mid, there seems to only be one range despite the knobs and the changes besides volume are minimal

This device a must have for bass players
I like that I can practice anytime around my family without scaring them away. They can't hear me play my electric bass anymore when I use this device. I can hear myself play and because of that, I'm getting better fast. The band is noticing my improvements. I'll buy another for backup later.

Works perfectly!
I charged it up at least a month ago. I use it almost daily for at least 30 -45 min and haven’t had to recharge it yet. Nice to have it ready to plug in and play as loud as I want without getting yelled at or stared down by family :-)
