Victorinox Swiss Army Men's Renegade Watch #24228

I just wanted a basic, understated, durable watch and thought this would fill the bill. It has. It's beautiful in a minimalist sort of way, with fluorescent numbers and hands, and a whisper quiet mechanism. Setting the time and date is simple and it keeps perfect time. The cover of the watch casing and the wrist band appear to be made of the same tough, black rubber, and enough holes are punched in the band to keep my wrist from sweating.One aesthetic note: The face of the watch looks more elegant than the photos here. I think they either removed the crystal to reduce reflections in the photo or used a polarizing filter. Be advised that the clearly visible inner ring encircling the numbers in the photo is actually a 45-degree-ish beveled surface that completely disappears when the crystal is in place.

Victorinox has made several "resin" watches over the years, and I purchased one of thier first for my young son and he enjoyed it a lot. Since that model was not longer made, I bought one of these, but for my teenage son. The watch is only slightly larger than a "unisex" or mid-size watch, so it is still easily worn by women or men with small wrists. But like the previous model, the watch is rather cheaply built. It has a glass lense (not mineral or saphire like my higher-end model) which means it chips easily. Also, since it's plastic, the case obviously scratches easily. The good news is that if you wear it enough to need a new band, it takes a common size that is easy to put on. Unless you are a kid, or you don't care if you own this watch longer than the next school year, or, you don't plan to wear it working in the yard or elsewhere, than I would probably spend the extra $50 or so and get one of thier metal watches.

I bought the same watch around 6-8 years ago. Other than having to replace the strap a couple of times, it was problem free. I had the battery replaced once after several years and it was working fine up until it suffered an accident. Rather than attempt to have it fixed, I decided to replace it with a new one. It's a great everday watch.

I bought this watch to replace an identical model I wore for 20 years before it finally failed. I expect the same service from this one. It cost about three times what I paid for the old one, which, I guess is expected.The watch and band weigh 1.5 oz. The package arrived weighing 32 oz. Most of this weight was a very elaborate three piece display box. Since I wear, not display, the watch, the box is in the landfill.The watch band is disappointingly crudely made. The buckle on the band is full of sharp edges and rough mold marks that scratched and irritated my wrist. I filed and trimmed to no avail, finally solving the roughness by flaming the buckle with a cigarette lighter. This melted and rounded off the rough, sharp edges.I suggest Victorinox spend less on the box and more on the buckle.

THE WATCH IS CRAP !!! ONE MONTH OF USE AND IT BROKE WITH NO REASON, DONT BUY THIS, OR CONTACT ME AND I WILL EXPLAIN IN DETAIL WHAT HAPPENED TO ME.

Short lived. I had the original 13-14 years ago, ran forever and was my faithful companion on adventures all over the world. Loved the low level light capabilities for reading time when you are moving quickly in the mountains. The last 2 died quickly and were unable to be revived.

I wear this watch while working out, out on a date, in the shower, bicycling, motorcycling, in the office, at home, etc. You get the point! This is a fantastic all-purpose watch. The numbers and hands glow when you step inside a room with low lighting. I receive compliments from watch enthusiasts. Great product! I lost the first one I bought and now I'm purchasing a second.

so im a professional cook who needed a tough watch that would stand the test of kitchen work. i found it. its lite and small. doesnt get in the way and i almost forget its on half the time. i love this watch. great buy
