Compatible with a variety of foods like yogurt, peanut butter, and wet or dry treats, it features three specialized surface patterns to suit different textures. Made from eco-friendly, non-silicone materials, it’s dishwasher safe and perfect for calming stressful moments such as vet visits or crate training.

These work!
So...we have a barking problem. When there's a knock on the door and then for many, many minutes after our guest has arrived, little Charlie barks at them. The initial barking is a good thing...but the continued, not so great. Our training method is working! We hold Charlie back or pick him up at the initial knock on the door, and tell him he's a good boy (for alerting us of "danger"). Once the guest is in, we remove the lick mat from the freezer (where it's stored with a delicious pâté of some sort smeared on). We then deposit the mat and Charlie behind a baby gate a distance away (where he can still observe us), and allow Charlie to lick his yummy mat (positive association) while the "danger" speaks pleasantly and does us no harm. This seems to be quieting Charlie down! He's now starting to run to the lick mat area a few moments after guests arrive. For this purpose, the lick mat is helping tremendously.

Love these licking mats for a lot of uses!
Love these lick mats! Allow your dog to stay busy while you are doing a variety of things like baths, trimming nails, grooming, and just to help destress and calm your dog. Highly recommend!

Good quality and works as advertised
I am pretty impressed with these. My cat is wet-food-only and has a super sensitive stomach, and yet has never recovered from being denied a constant stream of dry food so perpetually hoovers up everything edible within five minutes. Not a great combo.I got these on impulse to see if they would help and I've been pretty happy with them. They definitely do extend meal times -- normally he's done in 3-4 minutes and it takes him about 15-20 with these (less time with the orange one than the green). He does get bored eventually and stop trying for the stuff that gets stuck in the corners, which I feel a little bad about, but it HAS helped keep the mess off the floor which is great, since he has less food in his mouth at a time (and thus doesn't need to pause to spit out a giant bite onto the linoleum). They seem to be holding up well, too -- no raggedy textures to the surface, etc.The one thing that hasn't held up is how easy they are to clean. Initially I think the silicone must have had some kind of anti-food coating such that I could just rinse this thing off after a meal or soak it for like a minute and it would be ready to go. Over time that property has faded, so now I do have to soak them some and then take a soft bristled toothbrush to them. Whatever, it's not that much work I guess. They also have gotten a little wavy over time -- I don't own a dishwasher, I think it's just an artifact of storing them and then washing them. Again, not a huge deal. The hardest thing is just figuring out where to store sticky-textured silicone implements amongst my cabinets and shelving, which I'll call a win. I've been thinking about getting some more, but I think first I'll see if they continue to hold up over time to make sure it's a good investment.

Replacing after 3 years, to continue the tradition
I bought my initial one about 3 years ago, and am replacing it for the first time. My dogs eat their meals out of a dog dish, but for a mid afternoon snack they get a couple of spoons of canned dogfood as a treat. I press it into the mat so the treat will last 5 minutes instead of just 5 seconds. One of my dogs is a licker, but the other dog nibbles at the mat. This has caused the pad to crack where the grid crosses. I wash it daily after each use, but have noticed black gunk in the cracks that I can't scrub out. I am assuming it is mold, so, after three years, comes a replacement.A fun way to extend the time the my dogs are on task.

Fine if your dog doesn’t like to chew or shred things lol
Don’t leave your dog alone with the Matt! My dog was fine the 1st few times but then I got busy nd wasn’t watching her close enough, I look over and she had chewed a bunch of it up..she likes to shred things so she did t eat it but she got to use 3 times. I wish they would make them tougher.

Love these and so do the kids.
I got these two for shared use amongst my 20lb cocker and two very food-motivated cats. These mats have already survived a beating. The older cat and cocker like to use and are pretty gentle with them, but the other cat is only 6 months old and a beast. He aggressively chews on the nubs with his tiny needle-teeth and I have yet to see any damage on either of these mats. They've also really helped because I crate the dog for meals, but the two boys are out together eating. The younger one was scarfing down his food and stealing the older one's food. This mat prevents that because it slows him down so much. He also used to have pretty bad gas after meal times and now he doesn't. I love these things. They are about as easy to clean as you imagine they would be, but all three animals eat raw food, so when I use these I just mix in a substantial amount of water and make it a sort of gruel and mush it in. If you pick up the mats when they're finished (which I do) you can just use the sprayer head on your sink to rinse all the crap out. Then I set them flat in the sink and fill with a little soapy water, rinse, and air-dry. Works great and really no more work than using bowls because I have to clean those right after feedings too.

Calming effect
My dog loves it. I put peanut butter on it and freeze it for 30minutes. It helps him calm down during thunderstorms.
