Great value, great knife.
It's a very simple, and useful knife.I actually don't use it for diving.I have several of this exact knife. It's a very handy tool, and with the flat tip, it's harder to call it a weapon. It has endless application, as I bite my fingernails, so I usually have one of these on my side. These do work fine, underwater, I do snorkel and it's fine, if you wash it off with fresh water. BUT. It's really shiny, so you will attract underwater life, good and bad...

Great little knife.
Quality knife when your looking for something to use one the boat without a pointed tip. I use my on the kayak. Easy to mount to a life vest, as I did. Sharp out of the box but I had to sharpen it a little finer. Good value for the money.

Great knife
I bought this knife to mainly cute rope put on the kayak or boat. This knife is perfect for that. It feels solid in the hand and has a great look. The only thing I can gripe about is the sheath, it is very clunky and the knife rattles around quite a bit.

Great knife for rafting
This is the second Gerber River Knife I have purchased, and I still have the first one on my old PFD. Blunt tip is a must anytime you are near raft tubes. Will not puncture your tubes if you drop your knife while spreading peanut butter on your favorite bagel. Blade is sharp and it grips well. The sheath holds the knife in place, and I have never had an accidental release.

Good knife, great price.
Seems like it could use a little more retention, to hold the knife in the sheath. It doesn’t fall out but, doesn’t inspire confidence. I looped a rubber band through the handle and then over the tip of the sheath. If I have to pull it, in an emergency, I'm sure the band will break easily enough. I keep it on my paddling vest. No problems running class III so far

Fits the lash tab perfectly
I appreciate a good river/lake knife and one that will not break the bank. For $19.99, this is a good deal. The knife is sturdy. I was worried that the sheath would not fit in the lash tab of my PFD. As you can see, it was tight but I got it fit. I was going to buy a NRS co-pilot knife at over twice the price. I am glad I didn't because this knife is made in the USA!

Awesome value for a great knife.
Great river knife. Most river knives I've seen cost a lot more. I've had no corrosion or rust on this. The serrated part is very sharp and the only sharp spot on the knife. It could fit a little tighter in the sheath but I've never had it fall out even when bumped. Haven't seen any rust but I put a light coat of oil on it once in a while.

Not really a river knife
Not good. It does not fit the lash tab on my PFD. Sure, I could force it and mangle the tab and my patience , but it does not fit the standard sized lash tab on my Stohlquist PFD. And it doesn’t look like it is designed to do so. And isn’t that the point of a knife like this? It can’t be sharpened easily, so it really is an emergency knife and not a general purpose knife, so worthless if it doesn’t fit the lash tab.The finish of this knife is cheap—I can see casting marks and grind marks under the cheap shiny chrome finish. It seems strong enough, but the plastic sheath doesn’t hold the knife tightly, and I am not sure what strap or belt would hold the sheath tightly. The sheath clip looks like it is designed for a thick web belt, but flops around on my PFD straps.I notice that Gerber is owned by Fiskars, and this seems more like a Fiskars product than a Gerber knife. I am returning it.
