Only purchase if you want it to last for one year or less
This is the first time I have ever written a product review, but because I have purchased three of these epilators over the past four years, I want to warn anyone who is considering purchasing this item.I have been using an epilator for more than 20 years, and I love them. When I first bought this model I loved it, and would still love it if it the such poor construction. Because of the constructed in a way that it's almost guaranteed that it will break after 6-12 months. The first one I purchased broke after about 10 months, but I didn't even think to contact Enjoi so I bought a new one.The second one I purchased only lasted 6 months and I contacted Emjoi. After providing every bit of evidence possible of when I purchased the item, the original seller (from Amazon) sent me a new one. But I had to send pictures, documentation, etc.The third one lasted a little over one year. This time my husband (who is an electrical engineer) took this thing apart and discovered WHY this is NOT built to last. The "drive gear" is made of plastic, and one of the little notches on it breaks. All three made the exact same sound when it stopped working. So now I know why all three lasted for such a short period of time.I don't think I would be so bitter about this if this model was less expensive. The minimum I have paid is about $80, and I paid over $100 for the first. I sent Emjoi an email and told them that NOW it all makes sense -- I guess by using a plastic drive gear, they sell many more of these. But I won't buy another one and now I'm going to try other brands. My husband said that if they used a brass gear, it would certainly last more than one year. Oh, and this item has a one year warranty - so now that makes sense too.Long story short - if you're ok with spending this amount of money on an epilator that will last about one year, go ahead and buy it, but I have decided it's not worth it.

Handy little thing works well
This is the second epilator I bought, and I liked it much better than the first. When I opened the package, I found the epilator, the cord, the carrying bag, cleaning brush, exfoliating pad, and the manual all included. The epilator fits comfortably in my hand and is easy to maneuver, even with the cord (which has to remain attached during use and was not a problem.) It's kinda loud, but no more than other epilators I guess, and actually a little quieter than the first one I tried. The fact that it has so many tweezers makes it go more quickly than an epilator with less tweezers. It does hurt a little at first, but I have pretty thick and coarse hair, so it's much better doing it this way than waxing. I used this everywhere but my face. Yes, my whole bikini area, legs, arms, and underarms. I use the little brush every few strokes to wipe it out, go slow and don't press hard or you'll end up breaking hairs off instead of pulling them out. Also, wiping the tweezers with alcohol in between uses seems to help keep them gripping the hairs nicely. And everything fits right into the little carrying bag when finished! Please vote yes if my review was helpful!

Comparing the Emjoi to the Phillips HP6401. A honest review with no truth stretching!
This is my fifth epilator I have bought! I have had it about 6 months and wanted to wait and use it a while before I gave it my review. This is also the most expensive one I have bought! I am glad I waited because I learned some tricks with this one to really get max performance with it! My first few weeks/months with it I was disappointed! After reading the reviews I expected this to be very fast and save me a lot of time compared to my other epilators. With all the extra blades it only made sense. I am here to tell you that it takes just as long and I really think a tad bit longer. But hear me out and keep in mind I gave it 5 stars for the many reasons discussed below.I had a Phillips HP6401 which I loved and would still give 5 stars when you consider the price($30). I broke it trying to clean it. It does not clean well. This Emoji cleans so easy and is so simple. The Phillips was faster! But it did not do as good of a job as the emoji. The Phillips had a ridiculous long cord which I often laughed at but now miss dearly. Everyone talks about how this emoji has such a long cord but its only 6 1/2 feet. That may seem like a lot but trust me if you epilate all over you will get in positions with trying to reach and using your light source and what not you will need more. The Phillips ran strong no matter how much pressure. If you press hard on this emjoi it will slow down and stop. They say it is a safety feature and that may be, but it is also aggravating.I was very surprised to learn that this does better on the slower speeds. Took me three months to figure that out ! This is the only epilator I have had that is like that. On my other epilators I did not even use the slower speed because they were useless. With the Emjoi if you will epilate any part on your body on fast and then re do the same area on the slower speed you will be amazed at how many hairs that were missed this slower speed will get. So I tried slower speed first and very rarely there was a hair thick enough I had to use the faster speed. (And I have thick hair). I now have learned those few spots and do it on fast on those spots and every where else on the slower speed. I use the fast speed 2% of the time and the slow speed 98%.I was confused with all the extra blades why it would take longer and be better on a slower speed. Then one night when I noticed as I often did that my legs were much much smother with this epilator I finally figured it out! You see with the Phillips and my other epilators they would pull the hair out by the root like they were suppose to but they also often cut the hair it could not get by the root. With the Emoji if it can not get the hair by the root it leaves it there for you to try again.(pretty amazing!) You may need a different angle or more pressure. By doing this you had much less ingrown hairs. You also did not have to epilate as frequently. The slower speed allowed you get even the tiniest of hairs that my other epilators would have never touched. And that is why the emoji takes a bit longer and most importantly why your skin will be so much smoother. So if this one broke I would definitely buy another one and that is why I give it 5 stars! My skin has never been this smooth! I hope that helps! [email protected]

Good quality
PROS: Love this product. It is a little loud, but it does a good job. Yes it does hurt and it is normal because it removes the hairs, not just cutting them like a razor would do. You slide it up and down on your leg and the unit will grab the hairs and pull them. It will take you a while but you will get used to it. Your legs will be very red after using it and it is not a good idea to go under the sun light directly after. After one passage on the leg, yes you will still have hairs and yes you will have to pass on the same section of the leg multiple times before they are all gone. It takes about 35 minutes to do both legs if you have a nice bit of hairs and then you should be good for 2 weeks before having to do them again. I have had mine for 15 years now and I still have just as many hairs as when I first started, so if you buy it because you want the luxury of not having to shave every second day, go for it, but do not buy it because you think that one day you won't have a hair left, because sadly this is not working.CONS: The top rotating part is a bit fragile, as I broke one by applying too much pressure on it while it was in contact with my leg, but it is possible to purchase only the top rotating part as a replacement instead of buying the whole machine again. Other than that, never had issues with it. Fairly big (same size as an electric razor for a man) so not ideal for face or feet, but nice and wide for legs and arms.I do recommend it

Worst piece of junk I have ever purchased
Worst piece of junk I have ever purchased. It doesn't even grab all the long hairs, don't even think about it pulling the small ones. I kept going over the same spot which had longer hairs and got frustrated, grabbed some eyebrow tweezers and that was faster plucking than this thing. Don't waste your money.

Better than waxing
This product is way more convenient and less messy than waxing. It is tolerable for pain. Watch for sensitive areas though can create break out. Maybe best to use oil and aloe afterwards to prevent this.
