Important & Effective Product
Amazing product to have in your arsenal. I find it works best for me when I use this for 30 days or so and then pause for a bit and then resume. I don’t have digestive issues aside from occasional irregularity, but this product balances me out, especially after antibiotic use. I consume a lot of yogurt, kefir, hard cheeses (probiotics) and greens, nuts, grains, fresh fruit, spices (prebiotics) and I feel that this product is a compliment to a healthy diet. Easy to swallow, no smell, medium-sized and no aftertaste.

It is easy to take, very helpful for gut health, and is reasonably priced
I've used this product daily for at least 8 years. I find it very helpful; for example, as a probiotic, it provides intestinal support, and provides pain relief, especially in the gut. It also contains a prebiotic that feeds the beneficial bacteria in the gut. It is easy to take, and reasonably priced.

USED AFTER STROKE: it WORKS!
(warning: graphic talk ahead...) First, Jarrow has ALWAYS been a great company I use for their supplements. This SB stuff is the brand I always buy since learning about it 20 years back. It never disappoints. Not sure if people know it or not, but taking this stuff not only helps your body produce less gas/bloat, but also takes away the typical sulfurous smell of normal gas. PLUS it helps my digestion a lot more than that. I actually used it on my mother-in-law who had a stroke that paralyzed her left side and it left her incapable of controlling her bowel movements: constant diarrhea. After all other medications failed, I used this stuff with every feeding (via a tube they'd ran into her nose (poor ol' girl)). It cut her BMs by at least half and solidified them enough to slow down the pains of constant diaper changes. It gave a lot of relief to her and to us caring for her for her last 4 months.

Saccharomyces boulardii inhibits mostly only the bad bacteria without inhibiting the good bacteria
Scientific studies definitely indicate that Saccharomyces boulardii successfully treats people who suffer from diarrhea as well or better than Lactobacillus rhamnosus, the most beneficial of the lactobacilli, Bifidobacterium infantis, the most beneficial of the bifidobacteria, Bacillus subtilis natto, the most beneficial probiotic organism overall, zinc gluconate tablets, the most beneficial antioxidant mineral supplement for treating diarrhea and 2nd only to magnesium for improving overall health, and triphala capsules or tablets, the most powerful and effective natural antioxidant for dramatically increasing the numbers of all of the beneficial bacteria, treating diarrhea, treating constipation, and treating dozens of other health problems.Olive leaf tea and extra virgin olive oil are also slightly helpful against diarrhea and extremely helpful in preventing more than a dozen killer diseases in humans. Medical doctors prescribe loperamide, which is available without a prescription, for treating diarrhea but loperamide only works about half as well as Saccharomyces boulardii. Unlike all of the other diarrhea remedies that I have mentioned, loperamide has no health benefit other than making diarrhea a little less severe. The beneficial mycochemicals manufactured by Saccharomyces boulardii are not as directly beneficial to human health as the beneficial chemicals manufactured by lactic acid bacteria (lactobacilli and bifidobacteria) [such as butyrate, propionate, acetate, nitric oxide, conjugated linoleic acid, conjugated linolenic acid, unusual polysaccharides, and lactic acid] or the beneficial chemicals manufactured by Bacillus subtilis natto [such as vitamin K2/MK-7, vitamin K2/MK-8, vitamin PQQ, vitamin C, subtilisin (nattokinase), pyrazine, gamma-polyglutamic acid, scyllo-inositol, catalase, surfactin, conjugated isoflavone-phosphate, butyrate, nitric oxide, unusual polysaccharides, glycolipids, hyaluronic acid, coenzyme Q10, and bacitracin Tracy]. However, by effectively inhibiting the proliferation of the endotoxin and enterotoxin-producing bad bacteria, Saccharomyces boulardii indirectly increases the production of all of these beneficial chemicals and successfully decreases the production of inflammation-causing bacterial endotoxins and diarrhea-causing bacterial enterotoxins.Swallowing this product is the best way to get enough Saccharmyces boulardii. Although Bacillus subtilis is attracted to the living, breathing, green leaves of vegetables, eating the Japanese fermented soybean food called, natto, is the best way to get enough Bacillus subtilis natto. The best ways to get enough lactobacilli and bifidobacteria are (1)swallowing enteric-coated probiotic capsules such as Jarro-Dophilus EPS or Protec Acidophilus (made in Canada), (2)eating soy yogurt, (3)eating nonfat plain yogurt (from cows), (4)eating living, breathing, green leafy vegetables or any raw vegetables, raw fruits, raw berries, raw nuts, raw seeds, or unprocessed whole grains. Remember that all of the good bacteria (and 1 very unusual yeast) work together as a team to protect each other and kill off the pathogenic, endotoxin and enterotoxin-manufacturing, bad bacteria. Although the vast majority of fungi, molds, and yeasts are mortal enemies of the good bacteria, Saccharomyces boulardii is truly unique in that it inhibits mostly only the bad bacteria without inhibiting the good bacteria.I gave this product only 4 stars because the lactobacilli and bifidobacteria need to cling to our intestinal walls in order to multiply rapidly. This product contains MOS, which is helpful in preventing the bad bacteria from clinging to our intestinal walls but may also prevent the lactobacilli and bifidobacteria from clinging to our intestinal walls. Fortunately, Bacillus subtilis does not have the ability to cling to our intestinal walls so they are not harmed by MOS. Compared to the Japanese who eat natto regularly, Americans consume only about one-one thousandth as much Bacillus subtilis from their diets (mostly from raw green vegetables) but American intestines contain about one-tenth as much Bacillus subtilis as the intestines of Japanese who eat natto regularly. This indicates that Bacillus subtilis is strongly welcomed by the other good bacteria.
