Much Better Than Expected
I used to have an engine hoist before I moved to a new house last year. I bought it over 10 years ago, and it cost $300 at the time. It had the exact same weight rating (1000 pounds to 4000 pounds, depending on the boom extension) as this model. It stayed at the old house when we moved, I didn't want to have to deal with it along with all our furniture.Fast forward a year, and I find myself needing an engine hoist again. So I look through the product listings on Amazon and come across this model at a surprisingly affordable price. And to top it all off, it was available as a warehouse discount, most likely because someone else had returned it. Sweet! So I placed my order.Note, this thing comes in a HEAVY box, delivered freight. It's not sent UPS or FedEx. I was a little surprised by this, since my old engine hoist wasn't really that heavy.Turns out, my old engine hoist was a poor joke compared to this beast. The metal on this hoist is at least twice as thick as the stuff my previous hoist was mode of. Everything about it is vastly stronger and heavier. By comparison, my old hoist was practically made of sheetmetal. This would explain why one of the legs was bent slightly (another reason why I left it at the old house). The bolts holding this thing together are large and solid. All 6 casters pivot independently. And instead of tediously sliding the legs out to store them, this one has pivots that allow the legs to fold up without any effort. Just pull out a pin, fold the leg, and put the pin back in to hold the leg in place. Simple and functional.So... higher gauge steel, better features, AND lower price than what I paid for a really crappy hoist 10+ years ago. Fantastic deal!edit: I should point out that, because this was a warehouse discount, the box was pretty beat up. A couple of bolts ended up being missing altogether and had to be acquired locally. But this was a small price to pay for the amazing price.

Needs better bolts.
Was easy to assemble, probably took about an hour. The bolts for the casters are cheap and poorly sized. To big for 12”, to small for 13” and 9/16 is to loose. You would also think you would need to torque these down, but you can’t because you strip the threads. They are just really cheap bolts. I went and bought some grade 8 bolts. I don’t need a bolt breaking when I’m pulling an engine and smashing my hand. The jack handle doesn't have a grip, which is disappointing, but not a big deal. Greasy hands are a norm in my garage and a grip would have been nice. I put some athletic tape on to avoid slipping when using the handle.Other than those little issues, it looks pretty solid. Picked up a 350 sbc with ease. Didn’t see any signs of stress. Haven’t tried anything over 1/2 ton, but it should hold the max if you replace the cheap bolts.

Functional engine hoist with minor flaws.
This engine hoist worked perfectly for my crate motor install! I've found several uses around the house for it already. The box was pretty beat and hardware was spread all over the box rather than being in an orderly bag, but thankfully it was all there. The tabs that hold the legs in the upright position are only tack welded and have broken already, so be prepared to fix some subpar Chinese manufacturing. The structural welds appeared high enough quality to not be dangerous so that's a plus. It held my old engine and new engine suspended for a week or so each while I transferred parts from one to the other without issue. Overall pretty satisfied and would buy it again.

Please do not buy
Please do not buy this. First off it does not come with any instructions on how to assemble. Second 1/4th of my bolts are missing washers and nuts. 3rd nothing lines up. The legs do not line up with the holes to keep them in place, the support beam holes do not line up. One is too short, the other is too long. So even if I do manage to fully assemble, I'm afraid to use it due to instability. Spend the extra money and go buy one from local auto part store.

This is a good engine stand
This is a good engine stand. It is easy to assemble, does what it's intended to do, and folds up to a relatively small footprint. My only complaint about the product is how it was packed. There were several loose nuts and bolts rolling around in the box. It looks like the box took quite a beating before it arrived, and there were some holes in the box big enough for the hardware to slip out of. Luckily all of the pieces stayed in, or I probably would have deducted a star or two.

Good Item, Good Price, Thanks
Packaging was ok unlike others who have said it was horrible. I still was missing some lock washers and flat washers. The assembly instructions were terrible and weren't really even instructions. Very difficult to read from a picture that is only 6 inches big with tiny font.Overall the lift seems to work fine. Good, solid quality and really enjoy the space saving when the legs fold up. The delivery guy was great and I appreciate Amazon's help throughout the process. Thanks!

Nice hoist, crappy shipping/packaging.
Nice hoist, crappy shipping/packaging. The package arrived in pieces on an 18 wheeler. Fortunately the truck driver let me scour the floor for as many of the loose fasteners as I could find.Bad news is the garage project I anticipated being done in January still isn't. But today I finally had enough space to open up what was left of the package and see what I needed to scrounge for.At least one each of the big bolts are gone along with most of the nuts, washers and lock washers. The Jack handle is MIA and most likely since I didn't open up the package when it arrived to see the carnage I am left holding the empty bag.The hoist itself appears to be as heavy duty as I expected. After a trip to the hardware store tomorrow and another $30 in nuts, bolts etc. it should be operational. Except for the handle.....

Lost parts.
When I received the box it had a few tear holes in it. When I opened the box, there where bolts, nuts, and washers strewn about the box. Apparently they pack with bolts attached to the areas they are supposed to go, but a side effect of that is they vibrated loose and because of holes in the box, many of the parts were lost. I had to go to the hardware store to buy the missing hardware. After I was able to assemble the unit, it works just fine.
