Such a great laptop!
I love this laptop. Dang. Great processing speed, beautiful display, excellent touch calibration and response, and the keyboard is, oddly enough, my favorite thing about this computer. It is perfectly designed, and fits perfectly with a young woman's hands.Another thing: this laptop is much more durable than you think. It fell off of my loft bed at school and was perfectly fine! The cast aluminum on this reaaaally does its job.The only problems I have with this thing are with Windows 8, and even those are only occasional. I promise, even if you haven't learned to use Windows 8 yet, it is not bad; it actually works really well with the touch input.I didn't pay full price for this, but I would seriously consider it with how much I love this computer: Ultrabook power, standard battery life, touch input, detachable tablet, cast aluminum case, and no fan cooling necessary (this was a HUGE perk for me, due to all the issues I've had with fans on other laptops). If you are debating about getting this, as long as you are okay with or are looking for a 13 inch laptop, GO WITH THIS COMPUTER.

The WORST
Absolutly the WORST laptop I have ever purchased. And possibly the worst Support I have ever dealt with (only DISH was worse). It would not connect to the Internet at all. When I called tech support at the number provided I was told it was the Pavilion department, this was after 30 minutes on hold. I was transferred and after 35 more minutes on hold I ended up talking to the same person. He tried to help and gave me another phone number but after calling and waiting for another 25 minutes without response I hung up. I searched the HP support site and did everything I could find there to do, I even searched the internet to no avail. The laptop refuses to connect to my router when every other device I have was working fine. There are some other small issues like the way the tablet part disconnects and the outside surface that is almost impossible to clean fingerprints from but I may been able to overlook them if the laptop only worked.

This is a good machine for sitting in a chair or reading and writing in bed. That's what a laptop, by definition, is supposed to be. The screen resolution is excellent and easy on the eyes. It also is great for putting movies on the tv through its full HDMI port. I have not measured the battery life, but like all machines, it seems far less than advertised. Also, while I pick this machine because it is a convertible with a full working keyboard, the tablet is heavier than the keyboard causing the machine to fall over so the screen is in my lap rather than the keyboard. Another major minus is the mouse function of the trackpad which is stiff and unresponsive. I find myself tapping rather than using the left shift. Would have been nice to have separate mouse buttons.

Expensive lesson
I dont like it at all. Its heavy. Its quirky...sometimes it wont start. Other times the charger wont charge. Tech serve is good. But my warranty is up march 15. I cant imagine paying to have a tech on call but this machine requires it. Im sorry I have it and would give it back if that were an option.

Although a bit heavy, the HP Spectre is a very attractive high end convertible unit in a truffle brown aluminum like shell w/ a very high resolution display when compared to other similar designs. Unfortunately using the on-screen keyboard display caused the computer to lock up repeatedly even though the physically attached keyboard seemed much more reliable. This will most likely be fixed with an update down the road.My biggest complaint is that with 2-batteries (one in the keyboard and one in the display) tend to drain down rather quickly with the display and keyboard attached and unit shut down-after being fully charged and disconnected from AC. But with the unit shut down and both halves separated, seem to each hold their charges as expected. Apparently this is the same design used in earlier models (HP Envy X2 ) that also had this same anomaly with similar circuitry that uses the keyboard base battery to maintain a fully charged display battery but ends up draining the over all unit more rapidly. It would really be nice if HP would give the customer some battery charging options over this design so that we could selectively defeat how the display battery continues to get pumped up at the demise of the keyboard base battery when the unit as a whole is shut down and no longer plugged into AC.

At this price it's a no-brainer
Pretty easy to overlook the relatively minor complaints on the Spectre x2 when it's sold at this price. Fantastic build quality, runs fast and with very little bloatware, and display resolution is outstanding. The only thing I'm not a huge fan of is the trackpad, takes some getting used to. With the money you're saving you can just pick up a couple SD cards to expand the 128GB HD, and still come out ahead. To correct some info on the product page:-This is brand new, not refurbished-Battery life is NOT 2 hours, closer to 3-4 hrs on tablet and almost double that with the keyboard dock-As a laptop it's 9 inches depth, not 7.2 inches

Be careful before buying it!!!
It was good in the beginning, gave as a gift to my dad in India. It got broken twice within an year. First time HP service in India made some fix, worked for few months and then again broken. This time they are saying the part for this is not available. So it's just staying unused at home.
