Too late smart
The Pennsylvania Dutch have a saying, "Too soon old, too late smart." This is how I feel after purchasing my new favorite tool. I've had somewhere between 6 and 12 different soldering irons beginning with my first foot-long antique, albeit new at the time, variation on a branding iron that I used on the original transistor radios back in the early '60s. Without exception, every iron was a disappointment in one way or another. For example, try doing detail soldering when the business end of your tool is nearly an arm's length from your hand. Needless to say, it didn't feel intuitive, so it wasn't long before I "upgraded" to the various iterations of the pistol grip version with the thermal output of a blow torch. Now decades later, I have finally, found a tool that has been thoughtfully designed for the sort of chores that are commonplace in the twenty-first century.Twenty years ago my son saved his pay from his first job to buy a Fender Hot Rod DeVille. He's been gigging out with that ever since, and it is showing the effects of all that wear and tear. So before taking on the challenge of reviving that workhorse, I purchased this kit from Lonove, and I couldn't be happier. It heats up in a flash, but even more importantly it responds to temperature adjustment so effortlessly that you won't hesitate to choose the right amount of heat for the specific challenges that come up when working on a PCB that has been cooked. I particularly like the sleep and wake function. More than one person has called me an absent-minded professor an epigram I truly deserve so I can use all the help I can get when working with tools that could burn my shop down. The "helping hands" that come with this kit are so much easier to work with than the jointed alternative that is common on other kits. One last thing, I truly appreciate the lead-free solder that is included with the kit. I didn't even know there was such a thing, but after working with it I see no reason to go back to something as toxic as the toxic stuff I grew up using. Save yourself the learning curve. If you are looking for your first soldering tool or simply looking for a tool that makes your life easier, you can't go wrong with this choice.

I'm not bad at soldering, I was just using the wrong equipment.
I just used this iron for the first time yesterday to solder some small LED's. It comes up to temperature quickly and the flexible arms are great for holding your work piece. I have always considered my soldering skills as pretty poor. I didn't realize that it is tough to do a good job soldering if you are using an old fashioned soldering pen with no heat control, poor tips and no flux. With this soldering iron, I was able to adjust the heat so that I could properly tin the wires, and connect them to the small LED strip pads. This would have been a complete failure with my old iron. This iron comes with the temp setting in degrees C. To change it to F, simply push and hold the knob for two seconds the rotate it until it changes to F. Using 60/40 rosin core solder, I made great joints with the temp set at 680F. I hope this review helps you out.

Handy little soldering station
So far, this has worked quite well for what I've needed it for. Having the alligator clamps is nice because it means I no longer need someone else there to help with my soldering projects. It's a great kit for people beginning to learn how to solder as well as experienced ones who just need something compact and with "helping hands" to be able to do solo projects.I did have to calibrate it a few times before I was satisfied with the accuracy of the temperature of the soldering tip, but doing so is easy and if you're not as OCD as me and just want to get it hot enough to melt the solder, then you'll be just fine! One tip though: definitely go through and read the instructions regarding setup. The only other downside is the way they manufactured the metal attachment for holding the solder (it can be difficult to fit a screwdriver in to attach it to the base.) I with they would have included something to help with that/manufactured the small wrench tool they include to be dual-function with a bit on the end.All-in-all, if you're looking for a compact soldering station, I'd say this one would fit your needs just fine!

Soldering precision for multiple tasks, Thank you!
What a wonderful product! This Soldering station with its PID temperature control isfantastic. It gets up to temperature quickly, is stable, good tip assortment, etc. what a perfect addition to my work bench.

I like lowest temperature setting.
I have other solder irons including METCAL and Hakko.I picked up this one since it can set up low temperature as 90C. Sometimes I need a point heat source to verify heat sensitivity nature for specific component on the PCB such as transistor.Heat gun doesn't work and I was looking at Waveheat Pen at craft store though I bought it but this is not Temperature adjustable.Remarkably, this product is reasonable priced compared with Hakko 926. It also come with a roll of solder, additional 5 tips, sponge and alligator clip with 6' long flexible wire holders which did not show the picture.Digital temperature readout helps too though I have not measured reading accuracy yet.If I were manufacturer I would used bright yellow instead of orange color but this is my opinion. I think it is a great product.

Doesn't reach temp
Out of the box I set up the sleep time to L00 which would mean there was "no sleep" it was constantly on. I set my desired temp of 450* F and then waited about two minutes, it wasn't even hot enough to melt the solder so I waited 15 minutes more. Then the tip was barely hot enough to melt the solder (lead-free). Even after 25 minutes the light constantly blinked indicating it was still heating up.

Don't know how I used to work without it
I use this almost daily. Love it!
