Growing Mushrooms: The Complete Grower’s Guide to Becoming a Mushroom Expert and Starting Cultivation at Home

Lots of information, none particularly spectacular
I have never given a negative review on a book, and it saddens me to do so with this because I was super excited to read it. 75% of the book is mashed together mushroom facts with little to no visual guide. Spelling errors, syntax errors, and incorrect information galore (the author refers to the stem as the cap, the afterward touts him as a agricultural expert so I'm questioning if that's really so).Kindle had a feature to report typos and errors, which I made good use of.The only part of the book I found useful was the bit on Brown Rice Cakes, aside from that, you can learn everything here from YouTube with more insight.I think what bugs me most is the author gives no experience based information. It reads as a Wikipedia article.Lastly, this book is only 10% how to grow with one guide on one specific mushroom.Would not recommend, Google or YouTube mushroom growing tips and save yourself some time.I'm suspicious of the other reviews. They seem copy and pasted.

Not as advertised
This book should be titled "I jotted down things that I know about mushrooms, take a look." This book is 80% about the author's knowledge of mushrooms and 10% usable information. The other 10% is typographical errors. The author spends the first 6 chapters talking about mushroom facts unrelated to the growing process. Topics like: "which mushrooms taste like what," "the differences between mushroom types," "the health benefits of mushrooms." These things took up way too much room in the book. When I saw the title of the book, I expected a detailed, step by step guide for mushroom cultivation, ie "Step one: gathering the necessary materials and where to find them, "Step two: a detailed guide to making your own substrates at home," etc. The author of this book never mentions quantities or inventories in detail, he just brushes over them as if they were a footnote in his main thesis of unorganized mushroom knowledge. This book was clearly unedited and it sucks, to be honest. I wasted my money and my time.I hope for the future of readership in general, that this man stops thinking he is an educator, or at least titling his books to mislead his readers into thinking they are getting something that they are not.

Must have been self-published
I have never read anything so poorly written! At least not since I had the mistake of editing my tenth grader's biology research paper. I'm embarrassed to have purchased this book and recommend that potential buyers take advantage of the "read inside" option provided by Amazon so they know what they're getting.

Lots of typos/errors, quick published, info is light!
You can tell this was a self published book written very quickly for profit. Many typos and errors exist in the book. The information you get from this book is incredibly light. A simple google search can get what you need that this book covers. Its almost as if the writer pulled a few articles from google and typed it up into a book. This book DOES NOT go into detail about how to grow mushrooms at home and DIY setups. This is more of a "what are mushrooms" "what are the most popular mushrooms book" etc.Waste of money and certainly not a "complete guide"

Sad waste of time
A sad waste of time. Mostly gibberish, tortured sentences, and inappropriate word choices: it made my brain explode trying to decipher the intent.

Terribly Written
This book is written like somebody who doesn't know English ran their text through a google translator.I'm not kidding. This may be the most poorly written book I've ever bought. I can't even finish it. I'm throwing it into the garbage right after i hit submit.

Horribly written
Information was useful, but the book is written extremely poorly. I recommend the author get a professional writer to help and publish a second edition.

Not an instructional book
Was hoping for a book on "growing mishrooms" as opposed to this book which gives more history than growing instructions. Instructions are slim to none.

Unreadable. Very very poor
The most unreadable book I’ve ever come across. It’s as if the book was translated by a robot and never proof read by someone who understands English...
