Old Fashioned Filled Peanut Candy, 12 oz.

Upon opening the package, I was a bit surprised. The peanut crunchy candies of my youth looked nothing like these. These are about 1/2 the size of the original and they are actually a “neon” yellow instead of the beautiful warm honey.More to the point, they have virtually no peanut butter flavor. Mostly all I taste is sugar (and I swear I taste corn syrup!) with a very slight peanut butter flavor.I was very excited when I found these, but my search must continue.

What I expected was not what I received. Not honey-peanut buttery. The center was a little peanutty. The crunchy outside was somewhat bitter and left a metallic aftertaste. That aftertaste was unpleasant and lingered a long while. They were very slow to arrive, and I was seriously disappointed that these were nothing like I remembered them. They weren’t to my taste, but that doesn’t mean they won’t be to yours!

Let's just start out by saying what I received does not look like the picture nor does it match the description. As several people already stated, not the honey color they once were. Not shiny like they once were. Half the size you use to get. Description reads: "Hard-candy shell and creamy peanut butter filling." So far no peanut butter filling in the ones we have eaten. Since the product is very disappointing from expectation set in the ad any price was too high.

The candy drew large shaped ants like crazy. For that reason, buying it in a rip-able bag isn't the best way for it to be packaged. I ordered it because when I was little, my parents purchased it in a bright, tallish, rectangularly-shaped Christmas-decorated can and lid. It stayed fresh for a long time. The can included peanut shaped, raspberry shaped, ribbon shaped, peppermint shaped candies filled with mint, chocolate and other flavored candies. I purchased some of these items in singular plastic containers wanting to recreated childhood memories. I did not enjoy the product, nor the legion of ants.

I'd been searching for these candies for awhile, as I had a vague but distinct memory of them from my childhood. I was so happy to find them online and somewhere that wasn't super expensive! They're just as I remember them--a crisp outer shell with that delightful peanut buttery filling. Love them!

I put together small baggies of assorted candy for every Halloween and I try to give out stuff that kids have never tried before. This is the only hard candy that's worthy of being in the mix.

product is way smaller than I expected, smaller than the old version and doesn't have much peanut flavor to it. I will not be ordering again
