I have a number of Department 56 lighted houses in several different Villages that I have collected from back in the early 1990s. This one is my most recent purchase and was purchased through Amazon because there is no longer a store that sells Department 56 houses and accessories here.The design and overall size of the Pub is great. There is excellent detail. Having reviewed the available D56 Pubs available, this one was by far my favorite. I liked it so much that I ordered 2, giving the other to a friend as a Christmas gift for her bar area at her house.My only criticism/complaint relates to the light cord with inline switch. The switch failed after only turning the lighted house on and off 4 times -- the 5th time, it would not turn on as the switch had failed. The on-off inline switch just rotated and never engaged the "on" position connection. Since I have multiple other houses, I had extra lighted cords with switches, so I substituted an older one. That one has worked fine, as always.The new lighted house cord switch is not of the same quality as the earlier ones. None of the older ones have ever failed even though they have been used yearly since the 1990s. Also, the older type cords could plug into each other due to the configuration of the plug that plugged into the electrical outlet, allowing another cord plug to be plugged into that one, even enabling one to piggyback a series of cords into each other and thereby using only one outlet plug, The older cord's plug had a receptacle that would allow plugging two plugs together, or more. The new cord plug does not allow this to be done, which is a definite detrimental new design change, even if the line switch was not faulty..

This is part of the Dickens village collection and it does its part to evoke that timeless and classic feeling of Christmas. I have a very small set but decided to build a village of larger structures. Many of the Dickens village items are fairly expensive so I went with a more generic building at a slightly lower cost in order to ascertain the quality of the set. The building is very nicely detailed and does not have paint that looks like a 4 year could could have done the work. The painting is top notch as is the quality of the house itself. It is nice and heavy so should stand up to years of children playing with the buildings. It has a hole in the bottom for inserting a (included) light and strategic holes in the windows to let the light out.Truly, the only flaw I have found with the building is that the snow is painted a flat white. In my opinion it should have either been painted with a more glossy white or it should have a pearlescent finish to show the glistening whiteness of new fallen snow. (Or for an even more realistic vision of Victorian England, a spotty black smudge on everything because of all the coal fired furnaces at the time. ;) Not sure that would have made it feel Christmasy, but it would have been accurate to the perceived time.)All in all, I was looking for a Norman Rockwell or Victorian village and this definitely is a great purchase to begin that village.

Department 56 tiene villas muy originales y de temas varios. En especial las Dickens son mis favoritas

I have been coveting this piece for several years now, but it has never gone down in price (as most do on Amazon) -- until just last week!! It went down to $63.57 from its original $78, so had to grab it. Received it in ONE day (thanks, Prime!!) so could still display it in my village for more than two weeks before Christmas. It is VERY cute and I love the small size of the Dickens' pieces. The only reason for the four stars instead of the full five stars is because of the writing on the building itself -- E. Tipler. Wines & Spirits -- could be more pronounced. Mine looks a bit faded. In all honesty, I would give it 4.5 stars.

This piece is a perfect complement to the two Xmas village buildings I had. In fact, it has even more detailed features. Looks fantastic and has really put me on the Christmas spirit!
