It Happens when you make THOUSANDS of something
I've worked on a lot of cars and trucks. When you get something mass produced every once in a while one falls below standards. Does not matter if you are getting from Summit Racing or AutoZone. Every once in a while a bad product happens.

Twenty Below Zero and it fires right up.
Bought this starter in 2017 for my 1987 5.0 Thunderbird and it has worked extremely well, especially this winter where we have already been in the deep freeze here in Alaska for several weeks.

Immediate failure
I kid you not I got less than 10 cranks from this. Installed it just like all the other starters I've done before. It cranked up with no sweat and no lag or hesitation. I thought, (this is great!) Well I drove it around and went a few places and next morning at 6am I go to fire it up and starter kicked on, but simply spun and didn't engage my flywheel anymore! I was dumbfounded...... Like right now it picked to fail me! I never used a AC Delco starter before and its look well made and fired up perfect. Not sure whether I had a dud, or this is normal. Luckily my old starter still functioned, but due to wear when it gets heat soaked it would struggle to crank. Replaced it with this and immediately had to reinstall my old one. I'm disappointed and hesitant to get another AC Delco starter again.

good quality sturdy starter
My sisters-in-law truck has eaten the last 2 starters in 7mo from a local parts store. I Ordered this starter as it was a name brand received and installed. It works perfect and still going strong.

Poor quality control.
The media could not be loaded. The starter failed after one day. This type of starter has a switch inside that must be closed for the gear to engage. The switch was not making good contact. Note how easily the paper slides between the switch contacts. I bent the contact for a tighter connection rather than return the starter.

This is junk - I worked for 3 days and then stopped working
The starter worked for three days then stopped working all together now I'm left trying to figure out how to get a replacement or my money back
